Perplexity for Reddit
This newsletter was brought to you byWispr FlowHappy Hump Day! In today’s digest, I’m covering a new AI tool that’s kind of Perplexity but for Reddit. But first…
Some headlines:
📱 Google held its latest event yesterday. Here’s everything that was announced.
🤖 X has launched two new AI chatbots, Grok-2 and Grok-2 mini.
🍎 Apple has relented in its yearslong battle with Spotify over in-app pricing.
Cut through the Reddit chaos with this AI-powered search app
Reddit is a treasure trove of information. No matter your interests, there’s probably a subreddit waiting for you. You can catch up on all the latest news, find new memes, interact with some of your favorite celebrities, and more. It’s so useful, in fact, that Google has started pushing Reddit results more in response to people appending “Reddit” to their search result queries.
But navigating it, especially as a newbie, can be a bit daunting. The homepage is populated with all sorts of genres, and different subreddits have different rules for who can join and contribute. Fortunately, like with every problem, there’s a maker working on fixing it. One of the proposed solutions is GigaBrain.
GigaBrain is an AI tool similar in purpose to Perplexity — whose goal is to bring order to the chaos of Google search, but instead of Google, its focus is Reddit. When you boot it up, you’ll be presented with an interface similar to that of other AI tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, etc. You can ask your own questions like “What’s the standing desk in 2024?” or you can pick from a number of examples that GigaBrain generates.
Once you hit enter, the AI will scour Reddit, analyzing hundreds of millions, if not billions, of discussions across the platform. From there, it will source and extract the most relevant posts and comments in the hopes of answering your question.
It also comes with a pretty handy Chrome Extension. Say you’re doing some online shopping, and you’re on the fence about splurging on a product. Instead of googling reviews for it, you can click the extension icon, and GigaBrain will scour Reddit for user reviews.
As part of the launch, the GigaBrain team is offering $10 off the pro plan if you want to give it a shot.
Are you really still typing?

Full disclosure: Wispr Flow is the AI dictation tool most of us at Product Hunt (use we still have a few holdout typers, what romantics). Hold a key, talk, and clean text drops straight into whatever app you're already in — Slack, email, Notion, your IDE, wherever your cursor lives. No switching windows. No copy-paste ritual. Just say the thing – yes, you can whisper it – and even your most run-on sentences will be turned into polished writing at 4x the speed of typing.
