Building tools quickly with AI agents works great until something randomly breaks and you have no idea which change caused it.

Tracing errors back through AI-generated code can take hours when there are no proper tests set up. I've heard people talk about using evaluation agents or automated checks but setting those up properly isn't always clear when you just want to ship fast.

I build solo, with coding agents doing most of the typing. Going through this week's threads here, I noticed the bugs that cost me the most had one thing in common: nothing crashed, nothing logged, and no user would ever have reported them.

1. Tests that couldn't see the risk. My API's pytest suite runs on SQLite, which has no Postgres row-level security or triggers. Green every time. Now I check RLS by hand with psql, as anon and as a logged-in user, inside BEGIN...ROLLBACK.

Genuine question for people shipping with Lovable, Bolt, v0 or Cursor. Building fast is the whole point, but the same few problems keep showing up on freshly shipped apps when you look at them from the outside: admin or debug routes left reachable, API endpoints that return another user's data if you change an ID in the URL, Supabase or Firebase tables readable without logging in, and API keys sitting in the frontend JavaScript. None of these need a hacker to find, just someone curious with a browser. So how do you handle it? Do you have a checklist before launch, rely on the platform's defaults, ask the AI to review its own code, or ship and fix later? And which of these has actually bitten you? Disclosure: I work on external recon at Xseth, so this is my day job, but I'd really like to hear what works for people here, with or without tools.

The gap most auto-fix tools have

They tell you the bug is fixed. They don't show you. Our rule has always been: make the bug happen on real code, apply the fix, show it stops happening. The gap was we could only do that for bugs we'd scripted in advance. Anything unusual and the honest answer was "found it, fixed it, can't prove this one."

What we built

We taught FetchSandbox to write the reproduction itself, no pre-scripted test required.

three bugs an ai wrote for me this week. every test green. all three would've paged me in prod:

1. webhook retried charged the customer twice

2. subscription.activated arrived before subscription.created they paid, app said not entitled

3. a stale event flipped a canceled sub back to active free access, forever

none of these show up in a 200. you find them from a customer or you fire the ugly event orders on purpose and find them first.

we now throw every ordering + every duplicate at your handler and hand back the exact sequence that broke it.

We all have that one tool that quietly changed how we build, ship, or market something we found way later than we should have. For me, it was a simple log monitoring tool that saved hours of debugging at 2 am.
