Screen Flow

Screen recording and editing for Mac

Julien GomezFounder, EEWORX · Written
Not sure that is the best too, but i used it in the past and he does the job and editing was easy.

Used this for years. Really high quality but some might think the feature set is a bit too much to deal with if you don't really need much editing. If you want high quality output, this is the one!

CloudApp 4.0

Lightning fast media sharing and screengrabs

Mike Coutermarsh48Code @ Product Hunt · Written
I use CloudApp for that. Can create either video files or gifs from the recording. Recording a quick gif is my favorite feature. Super useful for sharing something quickly. I believe you need a paid account to record longer videos (I upgraded and use it everyday)

THE BEST recording app out there for videos, GIFs, and grabbing screenshots. Everything gets saved to the cloud and can be easily downloaded. It's the best.

QuickTime Player

Victor TorresHispanic Sales Director at Softorino · Written
Actually, I am shocked that no one mentioned macOS native QuickTime player. It's really easy to use and gets the job done pretty well. Yes, it can also screen record :)

I've tried lots of different screen recording apps but I always come back to Quicktime!

Monosnap

Fast & easy screenshot and annotation tool

Mattan IngramProduct Designer at Canvs.tv · Written
The only screen video recording software I have found that is both free and provides enough basic settings and details to meet most needs.

I love monosnap. It's just great. It also allows you to save your files on dropbox or other cloud services and for that you pay a flat fee. It's dead cheap and good.

I use this for screen shots - it makes editing them with call outs, boxes, arrows so easy.
