What are some of your favorite travel apps or apps you use to plan trips?

I am a techy budget backpaker. I want to share my knowledge and optimize my travel planning through the use of technology. Gone are the days I would show up and hope to have a room in a new city. I would love to hear the communty's advice to.

Kayak is the ultimate travel planner. First it searches the cheapest tickets, hotels, and car rental via dozens of other sites. Then you forward reservation or ticket confirmation emails to its email address and it automatically creates a trip plan for you. Finally it sends email and SMS reminders and notifications about your trip schedule and issues.

Journy is a concierge that plans your entire trip for you, hour-by-hour. Me and @suzywillow used it in Lisbon last year to help decide which restaurants to visit and sites to see. It's great for people like me that dislike planning. 😊

I found SpottedbyLocals in their early stages several years ago. I met with their founders and became a witness of their expansion and improvements. Wherever I travel, I make sure I download that city if it is available.

I almost stopped visiting places, which are not listed on SpottedbyLocals.

The latest version of the app has great improvements in design and stability. Their content is the king anyways.

On recent trips to Athens, Copenhagen and Krakow I downloaded the city guides. Found some great places through the app quickly. Their network of spotters is really impressive.
