What do you think? …

Nika

Interesting idea. I find it helpful especially because I do not have to open every single link to find out how the websites look like, what they contain etc. I bookmarked it and saved it into my "Product Hunt products" folder :)

Nika

BTW, I think one guy also tried something similar, but the project doesn't seem to work anymore. :D

@busmark_w_nika that could be normal on launches... It looks like they're getting more traffic than anticipated. Error 500 on vercel. They will fix it soon, I am sure.

Mark Lee
@busmark_w_nika that’s exactly what I do everyday as well haha. Hopefully this solves that problem for you too! Oh yes, I saw PH Feed last week! @bernatfortet was the one who built it. Loved his implementation of the gallery seeker UI.
Mark Lee

This is what I do on Product Hunt everyday: I'm a really visual person, so instead of reading descriptions and comments, I just directly open the websites of every product to figure out what they do. It's also a great way to get website design inspiration!

That's the inspiration behind VisualPH.com. You can now quickly glance at the landing pages (or gallery images/videos) of all the top products everyday!

I'm always open to comments, suggestions and feedback, so don't hesitate to reach out :)

Chris Messina

@markleehq how did you build this? Were you able to use the Product Hunt API or some other method?

Chris Messina

@markleehq oh wait, I see, you're using the Node Product Hunt API. Nice!

Mark Lee

@chrismessina You got it! I have a little daily automation that fetches the featured products using the PH API, and then uses Puppeteer to generate full page screenshots. The only thing is that the upvote counts / ranking are not real-time because I don't wanna hit whatever the API's rate limits are. So I might have to implement some sort of scheduled hourly update. Something to look into over the next couple days!

Thanks for checking out the product Chris! Lemme know if you have any feedback or suggestions :)

@markleehq  @chrismessina so happy to see my lib could help people to build their apps 😄

Reminds me of the Product Hunt Chrome extension that @andreasklinger built over a decade ago

fmerian
@rrhoover good ol' memories
Mark Lee

@rrhoover I was curious to see how that extension looked like and found this TechCrunch article https://techcrunch.com/2015/03/25/product-hunt-brings-its-popular-new-product-finder-to-your-chrome-browser/ and one of your blog posts https://www.ryanhoover.me/post/the-product-hunt-community-scares-me-in-a-good-way

I love it! @andreasklinger's design still works 11 years later! I guess some designs are truly timeless. What stopped you guys from incorporating it into the official website? Maybe it's time to reconsider it? 🤭

Ross Currie

@andreasklinger  @rrhoover Wait, am I the only one still using this? My first thought when I saw this product was, "Isn't this just the chrome new tab extension, but with the extra steps of going to another website?".

Would be interesting to see stats around how many people have this tab installed and are still using it.

Also, @andreasklinger - your new tab extension keep hitting up localhost for the favico

Mark Lee

Thank you everyone for supporting my first product launch. I really appreciate you guys taking the time to check out the product. Hitting the #3 product of the day was something I never expected. What an exhilarating 24 hours it's been, I could barely sleep!

I got right back to building after voting ended. And I wanted to announce a new feature here first as a sign of my gratitude. I created a new layout that's much more similar to the current Product Hunt layout. A single column stacked layout with the product details on the left and the landing page / gallery design on the right. Enjoy!

Special thanks to everyone who took the time to leave a comment 😊✌️ @rrhoover @chrismessina @busmark_w_nika @fmerian@azzam_jarad @admiralrohan @abod_rehman @theanimeshs @iamrajanrk @jaber23 @moko590 @grace_wairimu043 @xanderiang @german_merlo1 @joey_zhu1 @qiwap @pulkitgarg @lienchueh @lakshya_singh @nhat0le @sarasarasara

You are welcome! :)

No worries at all! Huge congrats on the launch — that’s an awesome milestone. Keep up the great work!

I also prefer browsing visually rather than reading long descriptions, so this really fits my flow. One suggestion: maybe add filters or tags (like SaaS, AI, design tools) so we can quickly find inspiration in specific categories.

Great work overall, this is genuinely helpful!

Mark Lee

Amazing @abod_rehman , I've found more people like me haha

On the top right, you'll see a category filter. Maybe I needa make this more obvious! Thanks for the suggestion :)

Animesh

looks like a fun and unique way to browse PH

the landing page scroll within the card, man that's really awesome.

congrats on the launch @markleehq !

Mark Lee

Thanks for the kind words @theanimeshs!

Rajan Rk

I love this concept, having a visual-first feed of product hunt’s daily launches is such a smart idea, it makes discovery far more fun, useful and intuitive.

Mark Lee
@iamrajanrk you totally get it 💯
