The overall experience was refreshing! To be able to test and utilize the features with our team, and show different ways information can be curated and shared was exciting. Jarod Groome, was very helpful at answering our key questions, intuitive in addressing some of our pain points and helping us think deeper about the wealth of uses. He also understood our sector so it was nice to thought partner. We look forward to exploring this product further in our work including onboarding processes and our client work.

Review of Synthesia
Our company is a law firm in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, and we recently tried to sign up with Synthesia. This review reports the experience we had, and why we ultimately did not proceed with this company. We hope that this review will be useful to any other corporate clients who are considering using this software. We create free educational videos about Canadian law, and we publish them on Youtube for anyone looking for legal information. Synthesia seemed like a good option to help create this type of content. Since the company does not have a free trial option, we signed up for the $30 USD per month plan to test drive the software. This plan includes 10 minutes of video footage each month, and limits each video presentation to 6 slides. We created our first short video, and we were satisfied with the results. Since there is no way to upgrade your plan from your client dashboard, we contacted their sales team on their website, and we then received an email from Jarod Groome. We told Jarod that we wanted a plan that would include more than just the 10 minutes of footage, and more slides. Jarod then arranged for a sales meeting the following day with Ellie Lobrano. Jarod did not attend the sales meeting, but Ellie presented us with two options, which was an unlimited plan charged at $8,000 USD per year, or a “Growth Plan” that included 83 minutes of footage per month, for $4,000 USD per year. This was a bit more than we were looking to pay, but we discussed the investment with our Board of Directors, and we reached out to Synthesia a few days later. We told Ellie that we wanted to proceed with the Growth Plan, and she told us that we would be required to submit payment up-front for the entire year. I mentioned that $4,000 USD equals about $5,700 Canadian dollars, and that all of our other numerous software providers charged us based on pre-authorized monthly credit card payments, with reasonable corporate pricing. In this case, we would be paying about $475 (CAD) per month if the company had been more flexible with us. Ellie told us that she would be unlikely to receive permission from her supervisors to allow a monthly subscription, even for a corporate client. This was surprising to us, because we have never encountered any software providers that made it mandatory for our company to pay for the entire year up front. We were open to committing for a 12-month contract, but this was not acceptable to them. In our view, this company could be making a lot more money, and building strong relationships with early adopters and corporate clients if they simply offered a method of upgrading to a monthly corporate plan directly on the client’s dashboard. In the end, our company wasted hours of billable time writing emails and having Zoom/phone calls with their team, only to be left without a reasonable and fair arrangement. This was a disappointing experience overall.

At first I liked the idea of the high quality productions. But the exact reason I quit my subscription in the first two days is the reason I wish there was an unlimited plan. With ADHD and autism - I make mistakes and I burn money making those mistakes I have to use an entire 2 minutes to try and fix, and it may still not end out right. Could be pronunciation, tone of voice, etc. I am okay with doing things over and over again if it can end out right for the high amount of money that is being spent. I would happily pay $300 a month to have unlimited generations and it is quite laughable there is no such options for people like me who have a disability and would benefit greatly from having more time/options/ability redo videos. The team unfortunately is not really cooperative or have designed plan that helps people in that group. I made two minute videos which both had really strange pronunciation near the middle and I am out 4 minutes now. I wish I could refund the whole purchase at this point. I can not recommend this software for that reason alone and will be recommending https://synthesys.io/ for this reason. While it is not as high quality, you can purchase unlimited times to generate your script. The way it is intended. I don't care about mistakes or glitches or bugs - but I do care there is way to work within the scope so that we can redo videos multiple times. I am hoping that one day they can match synthesys.io in this regard.

I can not recommend. Super expensive and the service just looks horrible when used more than a few minutes. Everything looks the same. There are so much better alternatives out there.
