Perplexity become my starting page for Internet with its fast, sourced, and analytical responses. Best tool for prompt research - what is more important is growing accuracy, you have to double check the answers less and less.

The hallucinations are still the issue but it took Perplexity so little time to progress - that's the reason I admire this solution

80 / 100, sometimes inaccuracies happen but I do love news segments in iOS mobile app

Almost entirely replaced normal web search. It's excellent for deep research on all sorts of topics.

Sometimes seems like it is leaving out citations, and other times the AI response has things that are not present in the sources

At the moment, this is my favourite AI tool. As someone who works at an AI company, I've learned to see through a lot of the empty hype behind many so-called AI tools. Perplexity isn't one of them. With its ability to provide sources to its answer, this has been steadily replacing Google as my main method of information search. Since it's AI, you can ask pretty open-ended questions and get decent answers. I've only seen it hallucinate a few times, and even then, it's on you to double-check the veracity of its answers with the sources it provides. It's a perfect tool in my eyes and it's only going to get better.

Perplexity is like Google, ChatGPT, and a research assistant all rolled into one. I’ve been using it daily, and it’s completely changed how I search for information. It’s fast, accurate, and feels more conversational than traditional search engines. I've wondered if traditional search scenarios can truly be revolutionized by AI technology. After using Perplexity, I'm not convinced it's the final form, but it's a commendable attempt. Most search situations, particularly my own, aren't for a specific descriptive result but rather for expansion and research. In these cases, the dialogue and collaboration with AI to make the search process efficient is crucial. Perplexity has shown me that AI can indeed enhance the search experience by providing a more interactive and dynamic approach. It's not just about finding an answer; it's about engaging with the information and gaining insights that can lead to deeper understanding and innovation. The platform's ability to facilitate this kind of interaction is a significant step forward in the evolution of search technology. However, on the flip side, AI also needs to address the issue of "hallucinations," where it provides incorrect answers due to its limitations in knowledge compared to a computer's database. For us, who don't have access to the vast knowledge base that AI systems do, it's imperative that the information provided is accurate and reliable. Perplexity seems to be making strides in this area, but there's still work to be done to ensure that the AI's responses are grounded in verifiable facts and not just probabilistic outputs. While Perplexity may not have all the answers, it's a promising step towards a more interactive and intelligent search experience. It's a platform that acknowledges the need for AI to not only provide answers but also to engage in a dialogue with users, helping them to explore and discover in a way that traditional search engines cannot.

The API is useful, although they continue to have some issues with citations in particular frontends. Once this is resolved, I would love to move all LLMs over to it. Long term, I think it will make much more sense for builders to use LLMs with search integrated rather than having to go through the additional tooling of search API add-ons.
