It helps you assess your role fit, tailor resumes, communicate experience & track applications. Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I’m Nela, co-founder of HireKey
I spent 10 years recruiting for technical and non-technical roles at Microsoft, Amazon, and Stripe, to name a few. I reviewed thousands of resumes and interviewed thousands of candidates.
Time and time again, I saw qualified people get passed over simply because their resumes didn’t connect their experience to the role, or because they struggled to explain that experience in an interview. They had the right skills, but hiring managers weren’t seeing the connection.
That stayed with me because many of those people were incredibly talented, genuine people whom I had to give the unfortunate news of rejection, which is honestly the worst part of recruiting.
So, we built HireKey around the recruiting knowledge I’d gathered over those 10 years, giving job seekers access to the perspective from the other side of the hiring table.
HireKey helps you assess how your experience fits a role, tailor your resume, practice interviews with an interactive AI voice coach, and track your applications in one place.
How it works
1. Add the job and your master resume. Find a role you want to apply for and add its title, company, location, and job description to HireKey’s Job Tracker. Upload your master resume once, then use it across the jobs you’re considering.
2. Tailor your resume and assess your fit. HireKey adapts your master resume to the job description, bringing your relevant experience into focus, along with an analysis of missing skills or experience and whether transferable experience could help bridge those gaps.
3. Practice out loud, on demand. Practice using the STAR framework with an interactive AI voice coach. Get specific feedback on where your answers are strongest and where you still need practice.
4. Keep your search organized. Track applications through stages such as applied, screening, and interviewing, so you always know where things stand.

A closer look at interview practice
Knowing your work and explaining it clearly are two different skills. This was something I saw repeatedly as a recruiter, and it’s why interview practice is such an important part of HireKey.
You can choose practice questions or add your own, then start speaking with the coach, all on demand. It responds to what you actually say and helps you identify where an answer needs more clarity or detail. You also get a debrief on what went well and what to improve.
Prefer to prepare on your own first? You can print interview questions with tips on how to approach your answers.
Who it’s for
HireKey is built for people pursuing technical and non-technical roles in tech, especially when you:
- Find an interesting role but aren’t sure how well your experience fits.
- Need help making your relevant experience clear on your resume.
- Know your work but struggle to explain it in an interview.
- Have multiple applications in progress and need to keep track of them.

We’d love to hear from you: What’s hardest about job searching? Is it deciding where to apply, showing your experience on paper, or talking about it in an interview?
Does the voice coach evaluate answer structure as well as technical accuracy?
@khaildnaseem Yes on structure. The coach helps you work through an answer using STAR and points out where you could add clarity or detail. I wouldn’t treat it as a definitive check of technical accuracy, though.
However, if we get enough interest or feature requests for technical interviews with accuracy evaluation criteria, we are open to exploring and building.
The number of tabs I keep open while job hunting is ridiculous.
@sheikh_umair1 the job search tab collection gets out of hand fast 😅 I’ve personally experienced “I’ll come back to this one” turn into 15 open roles. That’s exactly the kind of chaos we wanted the Job Tracker to help with.
Congrats on the launch! Whats your fav use case among all of them?
@thisiskp_ Thank you. I have a soft spot for interviews, so for me it's the ability to practice interviewing out loud with the interview voice coach. Even speaking from my own experience, you can know your work inside out and still freeze when someone asks you to talk through it. I love that people can get real interview practice before the actual interview.
@hamza_afzal_butt thanks so much! There are actually 2 interview practice types. One where it's specific to the job and can be generated for the recruiter screen stage and for the hiring manager stage. So this does change based on the specific role. These don't require practicing out loud: Just a list with role-specific questions and guidance on how to answer them.
Then, there is a voice interview coach where you get to practice live with the AI voice coach on-demand. This one specifically focuses on practicing the STAR method of interviewing because every tech company I know uses the STAR interview method and it's the part of the interview where many applicants fail because of its specific requirements.
@founder92 If I ever decide to look or need a new role will be leveraging @HireKey , It's been over 20 years since I've had to take a job interview, so I may need this. Best of Luck.
@codeandsea thank you! After 20 years, I think most of us would want a practice round before an interview. If the time comes, I hope HireKey helps you feel ready. Really appreciate the support.
the voice coach might be the thing i never knew i needed, my interview game is rusty, maybe i'll just try it out.
@therayess Please do, it's free! Try answering one question out loud, even if it feels awkward at first. That’s the part most of us don’t get to practice. I’d love to hear how it goes.
