Tomorrow at 00:01 PT / 9:01 CET, Call an Insider goes live: students and recent graduates book a 15-minute call with a professional who does the job they want. Insiders are volunteers at top firms.
No fees, no upsell.
It's Hypership Day, so I'll be shipping features live all day based on what you ask for, and posting each update in this thread.
Two questions before we start: which industries do you want insiders in first? And what would make you actually book a call?
Follow the thread to get notified when we go live.
Hi Product Hunt, Ilyas here, maker of Call an Insider.
When I was 22, I wanted to get into investment banking and I didn't know a single person who did the job. What saved me was a dozen professionals who each gave me fifteen minutes on the phone: what the job really was, what the culture was like, what they'd actually ask me in interviews.
I got in. And every recruiting season since, I've watched the same pattern: the students who get offers are rarely the smartest. They're the ones who talked to someone inside.
So I built the thing I wish had existed. Call an Insider: in a few clicks, a student or recent graduate books a free 15-minute call with a professional who does the job they want. Insiders are volunteers at top firms. No fees, no upsell, just people helping people.
Built in one week, alone, as part of a challenge: one product every two weeks. What's there today: insider profiles, slot booking, calendar confirmation. What's missing: more insiders in more industries.
It's Hypership Day. Tell me the one thing you'd add or change, I'll ship it today and post each update right here.
If you're a professional: be the call you wish you'd had at 22. Becoming an insider takes two minutes.
Two questions: which industries do you want insiders in first? And what would make you actually book a call?
I'll be here all day.

Nice product! I can relate to the problem!!
The biggest challenge is growing both sides of the marketplace (insiders and students). What's your plan for that?
@rania_rimaliΒ
Thank you, Rania.
Spot on! It is one of the challenges, if not the main challenge, of the product.
Regarding insiders, I rely heavily on my network. I used to work in finance and I plan to get traffic via my LinkedIn daily posts and also my LinkedIn outreach.
For students, I solely rely on my LinkedIn audience (12k) and the virality of the product. A kind of PLG.
Anything that could be added to the product (Hypership) that you think could ensure this goal?

Great to see it live π I commented yesterday about starting narrow and focusing on the quality of the match, I still think that can become one of the strongest parts of the product.
The 15-min format is super easy to understand and removes a lot of friction on both sides. Now the interesting part will be seeing which roles/industries generate the strongest demand.
Congrats on shipping @ilyasb πͺ
@thamibenjellounΒ Thank you.
Exactly. The product is currently focusing on finance to leverage the audience that I have on LinkedIn.
