A few years ago I built a startup called Ambastory around a similar insight: helping candidates meet employees already in the role, understand the reality of the job, and potentially get referred later.
One thing I learned: the quality of the match matters more than the number of insiders. People really engage when the insider has the exact role/company/background they’re targeting.
I’d probably start narrow, with a few industries/roles where career paths are hard to understand, and make the matching extremely relevant. Strategy consulting ? M&A ?
