A lot changed around the start of this year, and not for the better. Three specific things broke the experience for me:
Upload limits. There is now a cap on how much you can upload, which killed one of my most-used workflows, screenshot and getting contextual responses.
AI switching. When Claude usage hits a threshold, Perplexity automatically switches to its own AI model. The quality difference is noticeable and jarring. It no longer feels consistent.
Context retention. This was the final straw. When I continue a conversation on the same topic, it no longer holds the context of earlier exchanges. I have to re-explain everything from scratch, which defeats the entire purpose of a conversational search tool.
