Why I Built Awla
My wife is a Spanish teacher.
Almost every day, she gives trial lessons on well-known platforms — lessons she doesn’t get paid for.
And still, she gets excited, because she knows it might be the moment she wins a new student.
That made me look closer at the process. And honestly, it’s full of friction:
→ Students must complete long, tedious sign-ups
→ They have to pay before even testing a class
→ The trial lesson payment never goes to the teacher
→ Platforms take high commissions on future lessons
In the end, something that should be simple — trying an online lesson — becomes a funnel full of barriers.
So I asked myself:
Why not create a place where the first lesson is truly simple, fast, and free?
And that’s how Awla was born.
I built Awla as a platform focused exclusively on free trial lessons.
For students:
→ quick sign-up
→ easy scheduling
→ no payment required to try
For teachers and consultants:
→ more visibility
→ real opportunities to convert new students
→ full autonomy to connect directly after the first class
No excessive commissions.
No unnecessary friction.
Just a simple bridge between people who want to learn and people who want to teach.
