Most brands have no idea what AI models say about them when buyers search. The GEO Lab tracks 41 brands across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini — measuring citation frequency, context, and cross-platform consistency. The free open dataset reveals why SEO metrics don't predict AI visibility, and what actually drives brand representation in AI-generated answers.

I built The GEO Lab after noticing a recurring pattern with clients: strong SEO metrics, solid backlink profiles — but zero visibility in AI-generated answers.

I started tracking systematically. 41 brands, three platforms (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini), hundreds of category-level queries. The finding that surprised me most: SEO metrics don't predict AI citation at all. Brands with high DA can be near-invisible in AI responses, while others with modest SEO show up consistently.

The dataset is fully open at thegeolab.net - Citation Brand Index — citation scores, archetypes, cross-platform delta metrics.
