Mac local open source image compression tool

by

Hello everyone, I'm an independent developer from China and the creator of ImageSlim.

This year marks my first year as an independent developer. In the first half of the year, I developed three iOS apps, and in the second half, I learned and developed Mac apps. ImageSlim is my first macOS app.

Before this, I used TinyPNG for web image compression to save space on my server. However, I discovered that there were no free apps similar to TinyPNG on the Chinese App Store, and no open source image compression tools.

I used ChatGPT to create ImageSlim, a free and open source app. It actually uses the Mac's native image compression engine. Because PNG and GIF formats are not very efficient, I incorporated third-party image compression libraries like pngquant and gifsicle.

Now it works very well and can compress most of your images. This week, I also added features like image format conversion and inverse compression detection to help you better compress your images.

I hope this helps you. The app is free to download, and if you're interested, you're welcome to sponsor it.
