Free app, niche tool, by an accidental developer.
I’ll be real with you: I have pretty much zero social media presence and no marketing team backing me up. So, launching this thing feels a bit like tossing it into the void. Still, I can’t help it: I’m just too impatient to finally get this into people’s hands.
I’m a writer and filmmaker, but I stumbled into being a developer by accident. I got sick of making the same 16-trait character map by hand in Illustrator every time I started a new story. I’ve relied on this research-backed personality framework for years to build my characters, but eventually, I wanted the whole process to feel more like play and less like a chore.
When I couldn’t find a tool that did the job, I built one myself over the past few months. At first, I figured it would just live on my computer, probably never see the light of day. But the app turned out a lot better than I expected. So I decided to polish it up and release it to the community for free.
Honestly, I keep wondering if someone like me really fits in on a site like Product Hunt. It feels like it’s mostly for real developers and founders, and I’m just here with a free app for a pretty niche group: storytellers who are knee-deep in figuring out their characters.
Now that 16Core Character Mapper is live, I’m restless to see if other writers, screenwriters, and storytellers find it as useful as I do. It’s a bit of an experiment for me to find out if a tool can survive here on its own merits, even without pre-existing hype (or a budget to build it). If not, it's always good for SEO, right?
I’ll be on the launch page all day, genuinely excited to hear your thoughts, your feedback, or even just what stories you’re working on right now.

Hi @georgetsirogiannis
Welcome to Product Hunt!
Let me help you here by categorising the thoughts you wrote.
What doesn't matter: zero social media presence, no marketing team backing you up
What matters: "When I couldn’t find a tool that did the job, I built one myself over the past few months."
Let me tell you something. I was once part of a company which used to compel employees to promote its own products on PH. They used to secure top positions here, but the reality is they never really cared for customers. So at the end, it was a dud revenue for them.
I believe if your product helps you, your 'near and dear' ones, that's it! That's achievement!
Cheers! I upvoted 16Core Character Mapper today.
@ashok_nayak Thank you Ashok!
