Self-Driving Uber - The world’s first Self-Driving Ubers

A year and a half ago, Uber set up an Advanced Technologies Center (ATC) in Pittsburgh. Its mission: to make self-driving Ubers a reality. Today, we’re excited to announce that the world’s first Self-Driving Ubers are now on the road in the Steel City.

It's incredible to see Uber rolling out (no pun intended) self-driving cars in market before Google. Find https://www.xeoto.com.vn/toyota/...

Very cool. Promo video on YouTube is unlisted. No sharing for you.

@bentossell Yes, It does work here. When you press the Share button on YouTube then it prompts you with this message "This video is unlisted. Be considerate and think twice before sharing." Maybe Uber does not want that video to be shared publicly. Even the comments are disabled for it. Weird, but I can see the reason why.

As cool a concept as this is, it needs a lot of real, multi-seasonal road time to show it can cope with these extremities of nut cases you find on the road already.

Ford Fusions I believe: http://siliconangle.com/blog/201... ... with video on page of full announcement. Lots more coverage on same industry page: http://siliconangle.com/?s=ford+... John Furrier of Silicon Angle and The Cube also captured some direct commentary from Ford's CEO during Q&A: https://www.facebook.com/johnfur...

Its all good until someone pukes in the backseat and there is no driver there to clean it up.

Love this - I would have thought it would take them another few years to get there, but putting humans in the driver's seat to deal with and gather exceptions that need dealing with is a super smart move. Not to mention they can perform 1:1 customer service to make sure everyone who's tried one walks out satisfied and can't wait to tell the rest of the world about it. I will never forget the 1st time a saw a Google self-driving car drive down my street in DC while walking my kids to school and the sense of awe and inspiration I felt. It's been many years since then, but this future is just around the corner.

Love that this is happening right here in Pittsburgh!

The lane change from behind the bus seems incredibly last minute and aggressive too. I want to ride in this crazy thing.
