Hey all. Developed in response to the horrific terror attack on Israel, the Stand With Israel Widget lets website owners stand against terror and highlight Hamas's atrocities. This isn't about tech; it's a call to action, rallying the global community to support Israel in its fight against terror. If you have any suggestions on how to improve the widget, please let me know as the plan is to make it available in a more easier way on Shopify, Wix, and more. If you disagree with standing against terror, standing against Hamas - you have a problem.

@runtize_admin Not sure what your point is beyond a knee-jerk response? Not only is it non-sequitur, but it's also factually incorrect. The Israeli settlements I cite below are on Palestine, that is, land recognized by the US and UN as Palestine. This is straight form Wikipedia: As of January 2023, there are 144 Israeli settlements in the West Bank, including 12 in East Jerusalem.[17] There are over 100 Israeli illegal outposts in the West Bank. In total, over 450,000 Israeli settlers live in the West Bank excluding East Jerusalem, with an additional 220,000 Jewish settlers residing in East Jerusalem. So yes, Israel is creating illegal settlements in occupied territory and wiping out the native Palestinian population by evicting them, denying them building permits, and controlling freedom of movement to an extreme degree for those unfortunate enough to be born non-Jewish. Hence why international organizations recognize it as an apartheid state.

@yoavush Perhaps saying "If you disagree with (reductionist take on extremely nuanced issue) you have a problem" is not the best way to start a conversation.
John Swell
@yoavush looks like my original comment was deleted (the one @runtize_admin is replying to). I wrote: I cannot in good conscience say "I stand with Israel" because it is an apartheid state (not my words, Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International). I stand with the innocent Israeli victims of the attacks only. Both sides claim to not target civilians, but civilians are still killed in the crossfire. What is the difference between Israel and Palestine then? Oh right, Israel is performing ethnic cleansing through settler colonialism by installing Israeli settlements in land that is considered occupied by both the US and the UN and wiping out the indigenous Palestinian people by denying them building permits, denying them freedom of transportation and destroying their homes. Their only crime was to be born non-Jewish. Additional commentary: by saying you "Stand with Israel", you are encouraging the support of a fascist apartheid state that has a far-right government that has made blood-curdlingly hateful statements against Palestinians. Many Israelis bravely stood up against such a hateful Israeli government and got a little taste of what Palestinians face every day. You are garnering support for a state that is now gearing up to exact revenge. It's told 1.1 million Gazans to leave or else face death. It's cut off food, electricity and water (even water!) for 2.4 million people. That is tantamount to ethnic cleansing. It's the second Nakba.

@yoavush yeah just ignore 75 years of Israelis illegally occupying Palestine and stealing land and homes and daily murders of Palestinians.

This is so important, thank you so much for building this!
John Swell
@benln yes, a snippet of HTML that stands with an apartheid country, Israel, which as of today is about to deny 2.4 million Gazans access to food, water and electricity, and has told 1.1 million Gazans to leave within 24 hours or be killed is exactly what was needed to be built!!
This is not the place where you should be able to share about your own perspective about a political situation where you demonstrate shallow understanding, especially when you accuse people about supporting "terror". I don't think no one will ever support terrorism acts on this platform but your words are provoking people by picking a side. Find yourself another platform where you can discuss about these topics.
Matt Caine
@johnberg I dont think there is anything political to discuss about. They made an effort, they made a product and they published it on Producthunt...It's a product and this is place for products.
@mattcaine Exactly right, check the comments to see if it is only for the sake of publishing a product.
Mister Wael
@johnberg @mattcaine You cannot make it a product asking people to stand with a barbaric state that's covered with children & women's blood. You simply cannot!
Matt Caine
As Johnberg said This isnt place for political discusion... stick to the topic and thats product and its quality.
John Swell
@mattcaine Is it really a product? Others have commented on its lack of technical substance as an actual product and others have noticed it's rather a way to shoehorn in a political position—a position given the geopolitical context, I find very dangerous. Why? While I do mourn the loss of innocent life Israel suffered, the only result of "standing with Israel" now is garnering support for a massive ethnic cleansing of Gaza—a second Nakba. Is giving 1.1 million Gazans 24 hours notice to evacuate or else face death, and cutting off water, electricity and food for 2.4 million Gazans really the actions of a state you want to support by "Standing with Israel"? I only stand with the people of Israel who suffered the horrific actions. I do not stand with the apartheid state of Israel (as defined by Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International), nor do I stand with the extreme right-wing government, which puts their Arab neighbors to shame with their official genocidal rhetoric—and with the capability to execute the genocide.

What about people are being killed in GAZA?
Badr
Standing against Hamas but also cannot support a genocide and war crimes against Palestinians, If you stand with the genocide - you have a problem

Fact: Jews were kicked out of every country in Europe and Palestine was the only country to help and support helpless Jews.Today they claim Palestine belongs to them. #FreePalestine
Don Raz
@metageek I don't know where you get your facts from, but once Israel was announced multiple arab nations tried to erase us. Fact - You should check your facts.

@shahar_raz3 maybe you should read history. If you want the truth, you gonna find it, do some research and don't just believe what they want you to believe

Cruel world we are living in. All I have to say is: Free Palestine. If you want to know how Israel was created, watch this video:

yes, that's exactly what everyone needed, now make a "Stand with Russia widget"

I have great respect for an experienced maker like @yoavush, and I see what moved you to do this, but I can't rate intentions here, just the product. I fail to see how this is a product, in fact. There's no need for a widget to communicate whom we stand for, if we desired so. A simple H1 will do at a fraction of the time and without the risk that the object of support changes unilaterally and abruptly. I'm afraid that from a strictly technical point of view I can't forget the real purpose of Product Hunt, and based on that I must rate this "app" poorly: it does not solve any problem, it is not time-efficient, it poses security and reputation risks. Maker can change the widget message at will, and tomorrow it might be one I don't stand for and yet showing up on my site. Yeah, every widget could do that, in theory, except that maker's site doesn't come with a privacy and content policy, a ToS, and worst of all with identification details. Whatever the message was, I could never add such a widget to my sites, Yoav, Sorry. Said this, may all the parties involved in this appalling crisis get a hint of inspiration and remember that nobody chose where we were born but we can choose how to live. Together. In peace.
Miloš Trifunović
This is disgusting and embarrassing. You shouldn’t share here your political preferences. What about poor Palestinian people?
