I’m an engineer first and I’m at my happiest when writing code and building products. It was by pulling at these threads I found my way to founding companies — twice!
My co-founder, Raghu, and I were friends before we started our first company, Recruiterbox, and incidentally, we were helping grow our teams at our respective employers. Hiring was organized using spreadsheets and shared drives — which resulted in chaos. As engineers, our natural instinct was to explore how technology could do this better, giving birth to RecruiterBox.

So, we pushed the can down the road as much as we could, but had to eventually bite the bullet and work on getting compliances in place.
After 6 months of heavy effort and tens of thousands of dollars, there was still no light at the end of the tunnel. Conventional methods proved tedious, costly, and confusing, while the downtime bleed into our business and product development time. This journey made us realize that compliances require a lot of busy work that can be automated. Further, if a tool could give a clear path and fills the expertise gap, compliances would be a lot more accessible.
