Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I’m Vo Tan Binh, the creator and developer behind SPACEAPP. I’ve always been fascinated by what’s happening above our heads, but I noticed a gap: most satellite tracking tools are either incredibly dry (just numbers and raw text) or overly complicated. I wanted to build a unified desktop platform that makes orbital mechanics, satellite tracking, and mission exploration highly visual, accessible, and deeply educational. With SPACEAPP v5.6, the app takes a massive leap from a tracking utility to a true space intelligence engine. Here is what I am most excited for you to try: 🎮 Interactive 3D Spacecraft Models: Don't just track a dot on a map. Step inside the workspace and visually inspect 3D models of the ISS, Starlink, Hubble, James Webb, and more. 🧠 AI Mission Intelligence + RAG Web Search: Powered by live web-backed research systems, you get deep context on mission objectives, operational history, and technology highlights without leaving the app. 🌍 Advanced Orbital Analysis: Dive into geometric footprints, coverage radii, and lifespan estimations in our brand-new, dense Research View. ⚡ Smart API Optimization: Tracking shouldn't kill your data or API limits. v5.6 automatically optimizes tracking intervals, reducing your API consumption by ~25% or more. Whether you're a space enthusiast monitoring the latest Starlink train, a student learning orbital mechanics, or a researcher looking for detailed mission profiles, SPACEAPP was built for you. I’d love to hear your thoughts, feedback, or feature requests. What spacecraft should we build a 3D model for next? Thank you so much for the support! 🚀🛰️

Finally tried SPACEAPP and the live orbit view is surprisingly smooth, way better than the clunky trackers I've used before. Wish the educational overlays were a bit deeper though.

Thanks for giving SPACEAPP a try! I'm happy to hear the live orbit view stood out, that was one of the biggest goals for this release.

And thanks for pointing out the educational overlays. I completely agree there's room to go deeper, and I'm currently exploring ways to add richer learning content alongside the tracking experience. Really appreciate the feedback!

Curious how the real-time data actually gets to the app. Are you pulling directly from public APIs like CelesTrak and Space-Track, or relying on a third party feed in between?

Great question! SPACEAPP primarily retrieves orbital data from public space data providers (such as N2YO), rather than through a third-party aggregation feed.

For features like AI Mission Intelligence, the app combines those trusted data sources with live web-backed research to provide additional mission context. That way, users get a friendly overview while keeping the underlying tracking data accurate. Thanks for asking!

Does the free tier cover all the orbital data sources, or do I need a separate API key for something like CelesTrak to get the full set of satellites?

At the moment, you'll just need a free N2YO API key during the initial setup. It only takes a minute to create. You can find the installation and setup guide here: .

No separate API keys for CelesTrak or other orbital data sources are required.

How does the real-time tracking handle prediction accuracy during solar storms or other space weather events that affect satellite positions? Curious whether the tool accounts for atmospheric drag variations in a major way.

That's a great question! Currently, SPACEAPP relies on TLE data from N2YO and standard TLE-based orbital propagation, so it doesn't independently model space weather effects like solar storms or dynamically adjust for atmospheric drag variations.

Those factors can influence prediction accuracy over time, especially for low Earth orbit satellites. Adding more advanced perturbation modeling or space-weather-aware corrections is an interesting direction for future versions as the platform continues to evolve. Thanks for the thoughtful question!
