Turn-by-Turn Directions

by

I've been looking at lots of options for making the directions easier to use.

A big reason I keep avoiding the "blue dot" is because indoor GPS loses a lot of accuracy (and worse: sometimes with high-precision inaccurate locations). Instead, I've been wanting to explore a few ideas:

  • Mini-map per building, and users manually swipe as they cross over from one building to the next. Like shuffling cards, they can swipe back if they got lost.

  • Timer-based blue dot: assume a typical walking speed (or monitor device motion), and trace the directions line as a best effort match.

  • Capture "street view" and use AR to compare your device camera to known locations, and show AR-turn-by-turn directions.

  • Let me know what else might work!

Happy m'apping :)
