I ve been spending a lot of time lately talking with small and medium-sized business owners about their vendor contracts: insurance, telecom, software, rent, and other recurring agreements.

The same thing surprises me every time. Almost no one can say, without reopening files or digging through bank statements, how much these contracts actually cost each month or which renewal deadlines are coming up in the next three months.
