From one charging session to a cross-platform Android app 🚗🔥

by•

Few months ago I bought a Cadillac Lyriq and was excited about its beautiful 33-inch Android Automotive display.

Then I realized something surprising: There wasn’t a single premium fireplace app designed specifically for the car.

Plenty of streaming services (only with very latest updates, not available in EU yet), but nothing built for those quiet moments while charging or simply waiting in the cabin.

So I decided to build it myself.

What started as a small personal project gradually evolved into native apps for Android Automotive OS, Android Auto, Android TV and Android phones.

Along the way I:

  • designed a different UI for each platform

  • curated and optimized HD fireplace scenes

  • added offline downloads

  • implemented immersive 5.1 surround sound

  • tested with early users from Reddit across multiple vehicle brands

I’m finally , and honestly it still feels a little surreal after almost two months of solo development.

I’d genuinely love any feedback or questions from fellow makers.

What’s the most niche product you’ve ever built just because it didn’t exist?
