Awesome product! Any chance for an Android app?
alex botteri
@lecanardmalade That's on our list yes :)
alex botteri
@lecanardmalade forgot to update, sorry! The Android app is available on the play Store

Hi, what's the advantages of Ring4 vs Hushed or Burner?
alex botteri
@yozzozo Ring4 works entirely over IP (does not use the voice minutes of your SIM), provides real mobile numbers in 6 countries and is integrated with iOS call kit
Herman Schutte
@alex_botteri so the numbers are real mobile numbers? I've been using TextMe, but many services recognizes these as virtual numbers and do not allow you to use them. Is Ring4 different?
Catalin Pop
@alex_botteri @yozzozo I'm also interested about this. Are the numbers real or virtual?
alex botteri
@hermanschutte it's a good question, and sorry for the long answer. The numbers are real and virtualized to be accessible through the app. To get into the details: In the US, the largest inventory of number available belongs to CLECS (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Co...). They were originally wireline numbers and were enabled by SMS later on. They should have the exact same capabilities as mobile numbers from carriers. ATT/Verizon if the job is done correctly. Some short codes providers sometimes did not invest to connect those numbers but this is changing. In Europe there is no other choice to get voice and SMS enabled number having mobile numbers ranges. So they are 100% like the ones you would get while buying a SIM card.

Super cool idea and very useful to AB test on non digital stuff For exemple create 2 business card with 2 different designs and 2 different phone number and then see which one brings you more trafic :) Good job @alex_botteri Did you plan on adding analytics to it ?
alex botteri
@benchamla that's a very good point. We have gotten this request a few times. I am taking good note :)
Vincent Chevalier
pretty cool to get a US phone number for free!
Ken Mages
Google Voice. FREE
Jack Smith
@ken_mages GV is great, but is a totally different usecase imho. GV doesn't help you with getting numbers in other countries and only gives you one number per account

Listen is another "smart phone number" with a few awesome features, like auto-responders to text messages. I wonder if Apple will introduce something like this natively.
alex botteri
@rrhoover I doubt that Apple with go down that road. Google tried to expand Google Voice in Europe and cancelled the project. It is not worth the effort for them to deal with carriers/regulations..., at least not under this form. But some initiatives might redefine the way users consume their carrier services, like Apple SIM http://www.apple.com/ipad/apple-... or CallKit. The 1 number/1 carrier plan/1-SIM-card-for-life paradigm is definitely shifting.

Looking forward to test an android version!

alex botteri
@theleovogel Australian numbers available in beta - write an email to Ring4 support to get one :)

What's that expiration date? We need to pay keep extend the validity of the number? I'm lost, sorry.
alex botteri
@mirmayne By default the numbers generated are temporary but can be switch as permanent with the unlimited plan. The expiration can also be set manually with using credits.
Daveyon Mayne
@alex_botteri sounds good to me. It's like a rolling contract. 😎
Aurélie Le Guillou
Looking forward to using it next time I'm coming to US. Actually, can I already use it for different activities from France ?
alex botteri
