Should AI share of voice become a marketing KPI?

With over 60% of searches ending without a click, search performance reporting needs to account for what users see directly in search results.

Think about someone researching CRM software. They might ask ChatGPT for vendor recommendations, compare pricing, and evaluate features before visiting a single website. The brands appearing throughout those conversations have an opportunity to influence the buyer's shortlist.

AI share of voice measures how frequently a brand appears across relevant prompts compared with competitors.

Tracking it over time can help marketing teams understand which buyer questions generate visibility and how their competitive position changes.

For teams already measuring rankings, impressions, and organic traffic, AI share of voice adds another useful perspective on search performance.

Is AI share of voice already part of your marketing dashboard? How are you measuring it?

Tracking chatbot mentions just creates another vanity dashboard. I care about booked jobs, not whether a bot summarized our name.

 Its all bots.
Google rankings is also created by their crawlers/bots. So are other LLMs'.
You should care a little, as these are the results that your prospective users might base their decisions on.
