Do we need an AI-native slack?

We launched PromptQL on X/Twitter 2 weeks back and went viral as the first AI version of slack; and we just went live on Product Hunt! Yesterday Jack Dorsey announced his version, Buzz. And as someone following the space - I see a lot of people having strong opinions about this.

So what's yours? Is slack working for you as you do more and more of your work with AI? Where does it break? Do we even need a new era of collaboration tools?

Have you noticed people asking fewer repeat questions?

 100% Also they dont' ask you - they just ask PromptQl. as you push more work via PromptQL - there is no need for a category of things like status updates, "quick questions"

What makes someone keep coming back after day one?

 the wiki! as you work, and your team works, your wiki gets built up automatically.. and suddently all the things you wanted to document but never had the time, is just getting done and in a way that you feel in control - opt it - but it's written and well organised!

How are you measuring whether users actually replace Slack instead of adding another tool?

 we aren't - we look at how many folks on the team are active on PromptQL for how long, and how many wiki pages they're creating - as that's an indication of how much a part of your day to day it's becoming.. and just like slack didn't replace email - just changed what you use it for, PromptQL is where your work moves to..

I think the strongest part of your post was questioning where Slack actually breaks instead of simply criticizing it.That invites honest discussion. Which limitation do customers mention first during onboarding?

 just the legacy w Slack - to which we say Slack didn't kill email - you just use it for different things.. so start in Slack with and then move into the PromptQL interface for deeper work with AI

i think the real question isn't whether we need an ai-native slack but whether slack itself is becoming the thing that needs replacing. like discord basically ate a lot of slack's community use cases already, and now with ai agents being able to actually do things in channels instead of just summarizing them... yeah i can see the argument for starting from scratch rather than bolting ai onto a 10 year old platform

I don't think we need another chat app, we need smarter collaboration.

If an AI-native platform can reduce noise, summarize conversations, find information instantly, and automate follow-ups better than Slack, it has a strong case. Otherwise, it's just another messaging tool with AI added on.

 This is exactly what PromptQL is.. I'd love for you to take it for a spin..

The framing I would gently question is communication tool versus work tool, because the deeper split is where the AI context lives. Right now each person's real thinking happens inside their own AI chat, and what reaches Slack is the cleaned up conclusion. The team loses the reasoning, not just the messages. So the thing that would make a tool actually AI native is not dropping a model into channels, it is making that per person context shared and portable. Otherwise you rebuild the same interruption loop with a fresh coat of paint: ping someone, wait, they paste the context back in by hand. The test I would hold it to is simple. Can I hand you the thread of how I got to an answer, not just the answer itself? If yes, that is genuinely new. If it is chat with a model bolted on, people drift back to their private workspaces within a week.

The honest question under this is not 'chat but with AI in it,' it is where the human-to-agent handoff should live. Chat is great for people and terrible as an audit trail for what an agent actually did and why. If an AI-native tool solves anything new, I think it is that: making an agent's decisions reviewable in the same place you talk, instead of buried in a terminal nobody reads. Curious whether you see PromptQL as replacing the conversation or replacing the log.

I noticed you framed PromptQL as an AI native workspace instead of another chat application. That changes the conversation completely. Which feature creates the biggest difference during real team collaboration?

 capturing the knowledge in that conversation into the wiki - which is explicitly added by a human by clicking on an "add to wiki" button!

Where do you think most teams lose the most time today?

 copy pasting context or just going back to their ways of doing things because AI got it wrong and there was no way to teach it
