Best in class systems modeling tool. I've been using it for over a year and it has transformed the way I brainstorm, plan, document, and communicate complex ideas and processes. I no longer need to bend my mind to fit the parameters of my visualization software, thanks to a brilliant core design philosophy that underpins every feature decision.

Plectica has done a good job of capturing the natural process of map making into software form. Being able to design, present and share models helps succinctly capture thought processes, and simplify explanations of complex ideas (bonus of a visually pleasing layout). It is truly brilliant!
Looks like a great tool for designing application architectures 🙌

I can work on one part of a project and see it from the perspective of the entire work flow. Maps can be super simple and incredibly complex. Also I love that maps can be shared.
Pros:
Plectica helps me get organized and enables me to see new relationships and get new ideas. This software helps me think.
Cons:
Maps would be great in 3D!

Seeing as complex topics often have multiple dimensions, such as change over time, or different contextual states, these can be difficult to represent in a flat space.
I think the power of Plectica is in its overview-type features, which can allow for this to some extent. These are:
**Attributes** (tags)
Filtering by attribute highlights cards.
**Perspectives** (tags+info)
Filtering highlights and displays extra information.
**Waypoints** (presentation / walkthrough)
This is arguably the most useful feature.
Tell stories which zoom in on cards.
Waypoints can serve as a lightweight presentation.
Apart from those useful features I also found Plectica very easy to use. Although Plectica has fewer design options than flowcharting apps, I preferred this approach which suited my needs.
in my case this was: laying down ideas quickly, then organising and relating them.
Each card has a standard simple set of tools, accessible within each card.
Add the standard card by double-clicking.
Choose a color, title and summary.
Move cards or nest them infinitely.
Choose the internal layout for each card.
Set and name relationship lines.
Pros:
Minimalist design for quick diagramming.
Attributes & Perspectives for clear filtering.
Waypoints for presentational storytelling.
Cons:
A few more colors (?).
Maybe at some point I'll be wanting more import and export options, such as OPML format.

Illustrates how we make decisions and key decision points. It also allows you to take a deep dive into ideas and concepts.
Cons:
The only con is that more people are not using it!

I believe Plectica is not only software to show ideas, but to build thoughts
Pros:
Very helpful to organize ideas and create insights. Excellent tool to explain complex thoughts.
Cons:
Maybe it could improve the resources for big presentations.
