Nimbus - On-device AI autocomplete for your whole Mac.

by
Nimbus is a system-wide AI autocomplete for macOS. It finishes your sentences as ghost text in any app, learns how you write, and keeps up in 15 languages — all running on your Mac. Nothing you type leaves your device.

Hi, I'm Dariusz, and Nimbus is mine. I'm a software developer with 20+ years in the industry. For years I leaned on autocomplete in VS Code and grammar checking when writing prose, and I always wanted that same help everywhere on my Mac, not just in an editor. So I started building Nimbus. Then Cotypist launched, and it almost made me quit. It was well ahead of me and did - nearly flawlessly - the thing I'd set out to do. I kept going anyway. When it left beta and put the features I cared about most behind the top tier, that was the push I needed. The early days were rough. I wanted autocomplete and grammar checking, but the models fast enough for one broke the other. Eventually I dropped grammar checking and committed to base models - and losing that piece turned out to be the best thing that happened to the project. It led to the idea Nimbus is built around: full control. Nimbus ships on Gemma today, but nothing locks you to it. Tune it, or bring your own model - and when something better comes along next year, run that instead. Two features I'm especially proud of, both shaped by a small group of dedicated testers: Surrounding context. Nimbus reads the text around what you're writing - the email or message you're replying to - so suggestions fit the conversation. It does this without ever screenshotting your screen. That was hard to solve, and a big win for privacy. Personalisation. Nimbus learns from the sentences you actually finish - never a half-typed thought or an ignored suggestion - and slowly matches your style. Open Review Data anytime to see, export, or delete what it's learned. Like everything in Nimbus, it stays on your Mac. And you get a choice: subscription or one-time purchase - because I know exactly how it feels to be forced into a subscription. I'll be here all day - ask me anything. 🙏
