Side note - Instagram stories should copy the parallax from Medium Series' images. It would be a clever product solution to solve IG stories frustrating vertical crop that gets applied camera roll uploads.
I've been on the fence about this for awhile: is tapping beneficial to storytelling? The phone is 'the medium' we are 'stuck' with. And Series has exciting potential to cater to the phone's innate benefits and limitations. I've been in the beta program for a couple months. When I created my first Series, "NewsFeed Game Theory," I was unsure if I used Series 'correctly' as I wrote a pseudo-serious academic style post https://medium.com/series/newsfe... but in making it, I found that that the creator is increasingly drawn to the break from screen to screen, i.e. like a line break, but more controlling in the sense that nothing of what's next can be seen. The next screen could be an ad... Immersion in Series - and SnapChat stories for that matter - just face so many challenges the book never did. The break from screen to screen shapes the story. Anyways, from a marketing perspective (as you have to use the app to access the screens), Series is going to do wonders for driving the Medium app's usage.

I'm already a fan! As a huge Medium user this kind of fits the niche I've felt existed for a while! You can read my first series on my Medium profile! https://medium.com/@TristanIsham
Medium Stories is big for a writer like me. I write a series about becoming an entrepreneur. I basically write about my journey to riches, so I appreciate being able to make it a series instead of having to edit every story all the time. For those of you who are curious, here's my series: https://medium.com/ghilia-weldes...
I've started mine, it's called "Occasional Stories from a Computer Science Student", and you can probably guess what it's going to contain.
I've already filled in one entry, and I'm sure you will go through a range of emotions as you read it.

I am SERIOUSLY so excited to clap! I've missed this ability ever since Blab shut down. Yay for clapping!ππ½ππ€ Yay for @Medium #Series!
Welcome to mobile storytelling, Medium. The UI is a bit like Pixotale, the story is a bit like Hardbound or Steller.

(A)Not so long ago we were excited about the "social media status," brief, discrete statements released into the world with only timestamps and bios for context. There, the community creates the story around the status -- if it gets noticed, that is. (B) More recently social media with photos and vids retain more power for original posters. They shape the impression that community members have before they (re)story. (C) What we're seeing now in social across multiple platforms is an opportunity for original posters/writers/dragonslayers to control even more of their own narratives. Longer forms with multimedia do that in social, while medium series and other more "article" or "faux journalism" are tilted that way by virtue of their form. Blah blah blah. WHAT'S CURIOUS: In our age of multiplicity and shared authorship/ownership/being, our most accessible channels for self-expression are becoming academic. A story will remain a story if no one else can tell it....yet we need anthems to survive.
