Is AI-generated video about to get shadowbanned?

Something I've been thinking about lately.

TikTok added an AI content filter in late 2025 - users can now dial down how much AI video they see in their feed. Instagram is auto-labeling AI content and creators who don't disclose can face reach restrictions. 52% of consumers disengage when they even suspect content is AI-generated.

So here's the question: if your brand is running AI-generated video ads right now, are you one algorithm update away from getting quietly buried?

Is this fear overblown - or are we already seeing it happen?

The hidden cost of AI-generated content

Had an interesting conversation recently with a major cosmetics brand. They wanted AI video - legal team said no. The concern: artists whose work trained these models are filing class actions, and if the output infringes copyright, it's usually the brand that ends up liable, not the AI tool.

They ended up going with Magic. We take a hybrid approach - real footage at the core, AI on top - and for brands with legal constraints, that balance matters.

Is this on people's radar or still feels abstract? Is your legal team involved in AI content decisions yet?
