We first launched a beta of Lunchclub at SXSW 2018 and it's been an amazing ride since then to see our users across a growing number of cities make meaningful connections! We have now switched Lunchclub over to video and are opening it up to all Product Hunt users. You can now network from home and meet virtually with like-minded folks locally or around the world. We are looking forward to ya'll trying it out and would love to hear feedback and questions.

@vnovakovski and team: Well executed product. Focused; actively listening to user feedback; quick iterations. Using it for over a year. Delightful experience!

@vnovakovski @ashwinl I left very similar feedback and completely agree!

@vnovakovski and team @lunchclub: Congratulations on building a product that is a perfect fit for the entrepreneurial ecosystem. The in-person meetings were great, the virtual is even better. Above all, the great network of people you have on the platform makes every experience a delight.

@vnovakovski I can't believe I was one of the first beta testers for this product. I'm inspired by how far you've come!

Met a surprisingly high quality number of people via Lunchclub, I’m around 14 so far. Fantastic way to grow network with investing only an hour a week.

@orengreen same here! I've been really impressed with the quality of the conversations and folks I've met on LC! It's easily been one my highlights of Covid times.

Spammers. Spam, spam, spam. Spam emails despite a "long waitlist, because "we found your LinkedIn profile compelling". Suuuuure, Spammers.

@tcb @deleted-3456383 high five to this, the best protest of their tactics. I hope this app fails miserably.

Initially a good experience, turned out to discover that their "support" is just terrible and the enforcement of their T&C is pretty much ridiculous. Long story short: - I was matched with someone who had no overlap with my industry whatsoever and in fact described a set of interests that I consider misleading and dangerous - I reached out to inform him that I would not proceed with the call with days in advance - I also notified Lunchclub of the low rate of the match (the feedback page was already available) - I then got a "warning" for not attending the call - I replied to the warning in no uncertain terms about how inadequate their response was considering all the above - BTW, their own "Contact Support" buttons/links in their platform don't work - I got my account terminated, no explanations given. In fact, I wasn't even notified that it was terminated, I just realized it when I attended my scheduled call the day after - I have requested an explanation to Support. No one replies. In summary, the platform may offer some advantages... yet isn't worth the experience of not being able to interact with reasonable people behind the platform.

@jfqueralt You're lucky. Had you stayed on LunchClub, you would have experienced what I did - LunchClub surreptitiously goes into your contacts and spams your contacts pretending to be you recommending LunchClub! They admitted to me that they do it and they're not going to stop! When I complained, they terminated my account. Consider yourself lucky you didn't give that scam a single day more.

@jfqueralt @mitchell_savage I just found this comment by googling. The same thing happened to me - Lunchclub sent emails to my contacts WITHOUT ME KNOWING and claimed that I recommended it. I'm furious.

@jfqueralt @mitchell_savage @eddie_smolyansky I have had the same experience a with poor matches as well! Fortunately I have not had them send invites to my contacts. I find it extremely disrespectful when I get an email on a Tuesday evening informing me of my new Lunchclub meeting that takes place the following day at noon. Not only that, but the people I’m being matched with usually don’t respond to my messages requesting to reschedule (or cancel) until it’s too late. Just the other day I requested to reschedule with somebody who had a very evasive bio, and this person replied stating that she would not reschedule as she had “already set the time aside”. Additionally, when I finally made time for this meeting and asked about her career, she told me she doesn’t include that in her profile because she just wants to make friends. The very next thing she said was “I want to see how I can serve you in any way possible”. With this lack of professional etiquette and disrespect for my time and career, I would have to say I’m canceling my account. Since I work in the fashion industry, I’d prefer not to have a bot assign me pointless meetings that take place in the middle of major events (such as upcoming NYFW). If my contacts get sent invitations suddenly, I’ll report them to the FTC and CFPB because this practice is not just unethical, it’s illegal. From now on, I will be sticking with my community on Clubhouse because that’s where real networking takes place. :)

Been using lunchclub for several months now and have had so many unique experiences. Let directly to some new friends who I talk to regularly, new business opportunities that have already materialized into results, great introductions to mentors, and more! I love the video chat option even more as it makes meeting new people so convenient. I even met @scottwu through it and got in a game of chess 😀 can’t wait to see what more comes of it!
Ibbi
@scottwu @sydney_liu_sl Who won?? I haven't worked up the courage to challenge him yet
Jacob Willemsma
@scottwu @sydney_liu_sl Have yet to beat Scott in a single game of chess :(

I would love to recommend this product and was very excited when it launched and I signed up but I have had a bad experience with it to the extent that I would not recommend it now. I have faced an error due to which I have been unable to have any meetings on Lunchclub, or attend any of the firesides. I have emailed Lunchclub's support ID, DMed their account on twitter, and even emailed @VladimirNovakovski himself, but have gotten no response. ?makers I do not know what to do. The only thing I can conclude from this is that the lunchclub team does not care about their users. I hope someone at Producthunt sees this too, as this keeps getting featured as product of the day with many upvotes despite it's bad practices.

Brilliant app for meeting new people in your industry. Look forward to seeing how it develops further!

I had a very poor initial experience after being ghosted by both my match and the Lunchclub team. I sent 3 emails to both parties and didn't hear back once. I followed up again with the Lunchclub team and still radio silence. I doubt I'll be trying it again.

I used Lunchclub for the first time last week and it was lots of fun and a great opportunity to meet someone I would not have met under other circumstances. I wish them lots of luck.

Lunch club is amazing. I moved to 2new cities in 2019 and as well as helping me grow my network, I met really cool, interesting people which helped me in my startup journey. Can not recommend it enough
