Hey Product Hunt folks! 👋🏻 We're thrilled to finally roll out an integration that has been requested by so many of you over the past year. We've worked closely with our friends over at Slack these past few months to make this happen and are excited that it's finally being made public :-) What we're rolling out with today: 🖥 Easily share your Loom videos to Slack with just a few clicks ▶️ In-line video plays (only others are YouTube and Vimeo!!!) 🖌 Newly revamped homepage 👤 Record videos with a custom avatar ✅ Seamless Onboarding experience It's been a fun ride. Loom has come a long way. And the Product Hunt community is one of the main reasons we're here today. Since our debut on Product Hunt 2 years ago this week, Loom now has over 600,000 users in 21,000+ cities around the world recording over half a million videos a month. Individuals use Loom to communicate internally (Team updates, Bug fixes, Design -> Eng handoffs, New employee onboarding, etc) and externally (Customer onboardings, Sales demos, Support tickets, etc). A big shout out to the Loom team for making this possible and to the Slack team for enabling Loom's users to be more successful directly in Slack. @_shahedk Wow, you guys have done a ton since I first tried this out a year ago. This is perfect timing to rediscover the product because I'm updating my product demo and always dread cobbling it together in iMovie. When / how are you going to start charging? Will the current feature set always be free? To anyone that tried Loom when it first launched and didn't quite get hooked on it, give it another shot, I doubt you'll be disappointed.

I use Loom pretty much every day, it's such an amazing communication tool, we use Slack also and always send loom links to eachother through slack so this is even better!

Been using Loom for a long time now - use it all the time for recording videos for adding bug reports to github, invaluable!

@scotty_bowler Probably the easiest way to describe bug reports. Using video is one of my favourite ways of distilling technical info! So happy you're loving it😊

@ian_russell Not sure if this is the best place to give feedback, but I never use the webcam and it's a HUGE pain to have to turn off the grey avatar in the bottom left corner every time I want to record a video.

@scotty_bowler We're always happy to get feedback, where ever it may come from as it helps drive a better experience so thank you so much for sharing this. I'll be relaying this this directly to our team:) Completely understand the frustration here. Have you thought of adding a profile picture to replace the grey avatar - or would your preference be to not use it at all but have there be a toggle or something of the sort so if you turn it off you won't be have the grey avatar appear the next time you go to record?

@ian_russell Basically, it gets in the way. I don't need people to see my face when reporting bugs or doing a training video and it covers a significant part of the page. My suggestion would be to hide it if the webcam is turned off and allow people to turn it on, instead of forcing people to turn it off.

Loom is incredibly useful. We all now the impact a video can have but it was not even thinkable to use videos for daily and quick conversations. Loom managed to make it easy with a smart integration in our workflow. We don't use it super frequently yet but as the team is going to be more and more remote, it is a no brainer.

Pros:

Easy of use, integrated in our daily workflow, number of use cases,..

Cons:

A youtube integration would be great
