What was more fascinating for me was the capped tipping mechanism that splits your subscription fee to writers based on your level of engagement. Clapping/multi-hearts has been done before (Periscope, FB live), and showing such level of enthusiasm feels more relevant in "live" settings.

Wow.. pretty cool. Now I really REALLY want to build a following!

For posts that make me give a standing ovation, I would love a *standing ovation* respond too. :) For instance how about 'more than 10 claps' automatically convert my response to a standing ovation? I feel like giving it on a few posts by different experts. gotta say i love the rebrand. i was never a fan of the green logo, and i'm glad medium has gone back to (or almost gone back to) its original logo :)

Definitely intriguing and a bit surprising (look wise)... But like with every change to products we like, we'll accept it and fall in love with it again :) Well done!
