Gloomin - Record, Capture and Share

by
We built Gloomin to make screen recording feel simple again—fast, lightweight, and free from the clutter of heavy video tools. Gloomin is a lightweight, Chrome-first tool that helps you record your screen, capture screenshots, annotate, blur, make quick edits, and share instantly. No complex timelines or setup—just hit record, explain visually, and move on. It’s built for everyday async communication, not video production.

👋 Hi Product Hunt! We’re excited to finally share Gloomin with you. The idea for Gloomin came from a pattern we kept noticing in our own work. We were recording our screens all the time — to explain a bug, give feedback, walk through a UI, or avoid yet another meeting. But over time, the tools we relied on started to feel too complex for such simple moments. What we really wanted was something we could open, record, share, and forget about — no heavy setup, no production mindset. We started building Gloomin with that exact goal: make visual communication feel effortless. Early versions were very basic, but as we tested it with real users, our thinking evolved. We realized that many conversations don’t need a long video at all — sometimes a well-annotated screenshot does the job better and faster. That insight pushed us to treat screenshots and videos as equals, not separate tools. Our process became a constant exercise in simplification. We questioned every feature, every setting, every click. If something slowed users down or distracted from the core goal — clear communication — it didn’t make the cut. Instead of adding more, we focused on removing friction. Gloomin isn’t trying to replace every video tool out there. It’s built for the everyday moments: quick explanations, async updates, fast feedback, and fewer meetings. It’s lightweight by design and opinionated about speed and simplicity. We’re launching today to learn, improve, and build this alongside the community. We’d really love to hear: What do you currently use screen recording for? Where do existing tools feel slow or frustrating? What should we build (or remove) next? Thanks for taking a look — excited to hear your thoughts and feedback 🙌

One day you realise - you’re not repeating yourself because people don’t listen, you’re repeating yourself because teams grow.

So we stopped explaining.
And started recording our internal workflows once.
Real screens. Real context. Real voice.

Now no one has to ask twice.
And no one has to explain twice.

That’s how gloomin.com became part of our team’s DNA.

Work feels lighter when clarity lives somewhere permanent.
