Is infinite scroll hiding critical features from your users?

by•

We completely fell into the endless scroll trap on our web app recently. We decided to swap out simple pagination for infinite scrolling because honestly everyone loves that smooth social media feel. It looked great in design reviews. But real life hit us hard right after launch. Our support team got flooded with messages from users asking where our refund policy was and how to contact support. People were literally trying to catch the footer like a moving target. Every time they got close, new content loaded and pushed it down. We ended up moving all critical links into a fixed sidebar drawer while keeping the feed smooth. It was a big reminder that trendy UI patterns should never get in the way of basic usability.
Have you ever shipped a shiny feature that backfired like this?

Yeah I have seen this too Sometimes a simple usability fix matters more than a flashy new feature
