How often do you (re)launch on Product Hunt? + Taking care of your Product Hunt product page
After being on Product Hunt for almost 4 years, I’ve realised one thing.
The vast majority of people launch their product once, and that’s it.
It gives me a slight feeling that the product might stop existing a few months later.
On the other hand, makers who repeatedly launch major updates give me the impression that they’re serious about their product’s direction.
I’d probably feel much more comfortable paying for a lifetime deal from them because the product is likely to still be around months from now.
Personally, I think it makes sense to launch multiple times.
That’s why you should also take care of your Product Hunt product page throughout the year. It can increase your chances of having a successful relaunch later. What does that mean?
Update the visuals and copy on your Product Hunt page
Ask people to follow your product page throughout the year
Don’t forget that your product page also has a review section – ask people to contribute there, too
Participate in discussions under your launched product – the page also displays threads from the community
And let’s not forget that your Product Hunt page can also appear in search results, so even for that reason alone, it deserves some attention.
How many times per year do you relaunch your product on average, and how do you see this update strategy?

Can't give you a number yet, my first launch is still ahead of me. But this thread hit at the right time. I'm shipping iOS this month with Android coming later in the year, and I'd been treating Android as a quiet update. You just talked me into making it a real second launch. How close together is too close for two launches?

@nelsonsilvadev I do not have any exact number in mind, but the next launch should also deliver a major update. At the moment, only big players are hunted frequently because they have launched something. I mean Claude, OpenAI, Notion etc.
@busmark_w_nika Makes sense, the update earns the launch rather than the calendar. Android should clear that bar, thanks Nika!
I’d actually look at the history before buying a lifetime deal. Consistent shipping tells me more than a flashy original launch.
I’ve noticed the same thing. When I see a product launching major updates month later, I'm much more confident that the team is still committed.
Haven't launched RezunateLLM yet, so I hadn't really thought about relaunching. This makes me want to change that, a page that just sits there after launch probably looks abandoned even if the product's still moving forward.
If you could only keep one part of your PH page updated year-round, follower count, reviews, or discussion activity, which would you actually bet on?

@busmark_w_nika Our first launch gave us a really good experience and a lot of valuable feedback.
At the moment, we're preparing for our next one, this time relying more on feedback from users and the community. We’ve already come up with some new ideas for the second launch.
So I think I’ll be able to share the results after it happens this fall =)
Launched just once, a few weeks ago, to near silence. Hardly any footprint on PH beforehand. The error, in hindsight, wasn’t the launch itself. It was arriving as an unknown on that day. So your advice about maintaining the page year-round hits home default neglect made it obvious. Going forward, I’ll engage in discussions like this between launches, not only in the lead-up. Have you ever seen relaunching work against you, with followers growing weary of repeated efforts, or has it always been worthwhile?

@Creatium is just approaching our second launch in a few days, and we’re quite excited to share. It’s been interesting engaging with an already built community. I think as a team @drcreatium, @maria_wall_ball, @ridhwikvinod, and the team are feeling more prepared knowing what we need to get done for a launch, and I think we’re way more methodical this time around. This has allowed us to really focus on prepping a learning product that we can be proud to share with the PH community for thoughts and improvements!
I was thinking about Product Hunt as another channel where we share product updates / new features as a maker comment with a link to a blog or video and save the official launches for new products. But curious how others are approaching subsequent launches and updates.
