How do you plan marketing?
by•
For me, marketing is the toughest phase of saas journey. With my first saas, I was very confident with it and thought of adding all the features before launching. But, marketing was something I did not even think of, not even once. Th result, I closed it after working sometimes realizing there was no actual market for the saas and that I liked the idea without doing any market research.
For me, marketing and distribution includes saas submission on directories, talking with your customer on platforms like reddit etc. and running ads when you have some traction. SEO, affiliate marketing etc. are later or optional things which could be added anytime.
What do you do to market your saas and how do you get your customers?

the thing i wish someone told me: marketing isn't the phase after building, it's what you do before there's a product at all. building solo, my highest-leverage hours go to the threads where my users already hang out, being useful early, so by launch the people who'd care already know the name. directories and ads are downstream of that.
Same here honestly. I've run my own business for over 20 years, but marketing to English-speaking users is new for me, that's actually why I joined PH.
I recently sent out a free press release. Not sure if it had anything to do with it, but a few people have signed up through ChatGPT. The site's only been live a short while, so I'm kind of puzzled.
