f.lux is a must-have app for Mac users. Awesome to see @herf build this for iOS, although it's unfortunately that it need to be side-loaded.

@rrhoover I'd love for it to be available normally. One thing I also find is at night the backlight, even at the minimum setting, it still too bright. Would be great if you could override this

@smithjw @rrhoover I found this also and then came across an accessibility option to dim the screen further. I then set it up against the home button 3 tap shortcut so I can toggle the dimming at night. This post explains it well: http://www.techrepublic.com/arti... :)

@amol @rrhoover anyone have this? I had the tab open and I didn't download !!
Hugo Alves
Infinite clapping. Thank you for this. I'm a bit sad that Apple hasn't bought f.lux and made it a system level feature.
Wade Hammes
@ugo_alves agreed!
James Smith
Needs to be side-loaded using Xcode but you no longer need a paid Apple Developer account.

@smithjw why isn't the App in the App Store? Apple blocks it?
James Smith
@dordio pretty sure it's because they're using some private APIs so would get rejected. Prior to iOS 9 you would have had to jailbreak to use that but now anyone can get a free dev account
Joao Dordio
@smithjw that's what I thought! I've been using f.lux on mac since forever and when I had a jailbroken iPhone was one of the best tweaks ever. Glad that this sees the iOS light again. Thanks @herf !

@smithjw That was my first question, how. Side loaded is not too bad. Thanks.
Michael Pfister
@smithjw couldn't be any happier. this was the only reason I had to jailbreak my phone. now I don't have to!

Got it working. my eyes are so happy. xcode is a foreign world to me. So I was a bit confused when installing. For this step "Under Targets > iflux > General > Identity, add a word to the end of the Bundle Identifier to make it a unique name" This is what you need to do:

@mscccc I wonder why it's necessary. I left it as is.
Mike Coutermarsh
@pointum i'm thinking that it's for when they get it in the app store. Installing the "official" version won't clash with this side loaded one.

So I've just uploaded this to GitHub for anyone who couldn't grab it before they took it down. Enjoy! https://github.com/smithjw/flux-iOS

Unfortunately, that didn't last long. @herf just updated the site with the following: Apple has contacted us to say that the f.lux for iOS download (previously available on this page) is in violation of the Developer Program Agreement, so this method of install is no longer available. He continues to credit Product Hunt, LifeHacker, BGR , 9to5Mac , TechCrunch, and The Next Web for driving 176k visits in the past 24 hours. RIP, f.lux for iOS.

@rrhoover I hope the developer did not add any expiration mechanism. It should continue to work otherwise.
Maxim Melnikov
@rrhoover bad Apple :-(
Adam Owen
Awesome! Can't wait to get this installed. Just wish Apple would stop being so restrictive with these types of apps. Instead, they should be buying the company and integrating this natively.
Cole Mercer
Love flux! Anyone know how / if this affects battery life?
Enrico Icardi
@colemercer i've been using it for about 1-2-3 years (don't even remember how long), and i can say that my battery's not complaining at all
Julien Steel
Hell yeah! Finally! Thanks

It is good day to be a iOS Developer :)
