CREEM 2.0 - Sell and grow your AI built products

I whisper to the payments system at Creem. I've been squeezing card authorization rates since 2007, at different scalups across PayOps, acquiring, engineering and product. I took a short founder detour until @sudoferraz invited me back to what I like doing: making sure the money arrives.

Most payment setups were built for companies with a finance team, a payments team and a year to integrate. A lot of the people selling on Creem are three founders and a few AI agents selling in 190+ countries. So we've been building for how those teams work: splitting revenue with partners and affiliates, usage-based pricing, paid trials, and more cards approved on the first try.

The thing I'm most excited about is the Partner plan. It's for teams that have outgrown self-serve and want a payments team without hiring one. You get a dedicated account manager on WhatsApp, a weekly payments session with us, faster payouts, 0% fees on splits and affiliates, and a Creem Visa card to spend your balance directly.

I also like the team and the problems we get to work on. On a given day, payments work here goes from negotiating an acquirer contract in the morning to reading decline codes, shipping a fix in code and seeing acceptance move by the evening. The problems are hard and nobody waits for a handoff.

I run engineering, and for 2.0 my own corner was the billing and developer side: usage-based billing with credit wallets, checkout on your own domain, and a CLI with full API coverage.

If you can ship a product in a weekend, you shouldn't need a week to start charging for it. So the rule for 2.0 was simple: everything you can do in the dashboard, you can do from the API, the CLI, and our MCP server. Creem is meant to be run by an agent as much as by a person. Point Claude Code or Cursor at it, and it can create products, wire up webhooks, ship a checkout, and watch your first sales come in, without you reading a single reference page.

The part I spent the most nights on is billing. When we surveyed merchants this summer, nearly every serious "usage-based" request came from an AI product whose cost of goods is inference tokens. Nobody asked for pure pay-per-use. They asked for subscription plus overage, and prepaid credits that top up automatically instead of cutting a user off at the cap. So that's what we built: a credit wallet per customer, custom meters drawing against it, and tax and invoicing handled by us as merchant of record, same as any other sale.

Custom-domain checkout was our most-upvoted request by a wide margin. Your checkout now lives on your own subdomain: point a CNAME at us, TLS is issued automatically, and you're live.

Payments products tend to grow feature by feature until they feel like five tools wearing one logo - 2.0 was our chance to fix that. The dashboard, the site and everything in between now run on one design system, built this summer, and it changes how the product feels more than any single feature does.

Concretely: every list opens into the same kind of detail panel, every chart reads the same way, test mode is one unmissable bar across the top, and important information has been brought out front and center. Nothing to relearn when you move from products to payouts to affiliates.

What I'm most excited about is what that unlocks. When the whole surface is consistent, new pieces like usage meters and short links land as native screens, not add-ons. That's how 2.0 shipped so much without feeling bigger.
