Discover, enrich, and act on live people and company data sets in Clay. Cut your manual work, reduce reliance on Upwork, and keep engineering time focused on your beautiful product. Get started today, for free.
Hello Product Hunt! Kareem here, co-founder @ Clay.com. Today, we are excited to share Clay with you — a new type of product that brings hard-to-connect data sources together to build live lists of people and companies.
Big thanks to @nickabouzeid for hunting, and for being one of our earliest users at Clay ✨!
Our mission is to give more people the power to program. In speaking with our community, we found that for too long, sales, marketing and recruiting teams have been working with bad data, relying on manual work or requesting engineering time to build the workflows they need. Now, these teams can build their dream lists and automations in minutes without any code required.
It’s been great to see some of our earliest users mold Clay to their specific use cases. Here are a few cool examples that demonstrate what you can do with Clay:
🛠 Growth: You can stream in email signups from Hubspot, add data from LinkedIn (things like title, company, etc.), see if those companies are hiring for certain roles (via Google Jobs) or what their tech stack looks like (via BuiltWith), and then create automations based off the criteria that matters to you.
🎨 Sales: You could start by searching LinkedIn directly from Clay, add emails and phone numbers from sources like Clearbit and Hunter.io, create your own sales qualifying formula, and then sync back any qualified leads to your CRM or marketing platform.
📚 Recruiting: You can stream in Twitter followers (or even threads and DMs!) and Github stargazers to a table, filter the bios for keywords like engineer or iOS, match to LinkedIn profiles, and then connect to Lever or your email client.
For a limited time, we’ve removed our waitlist to let the Product Hunt community get creative with Clay. We can’t wait to see what you build! ✨
P.S. Here is a Google Page https://docs.google.com/document... where anyone can submit feature requests, bugs or feedback. Excited to build this together!
P.P.S. We’re just getting started! For more adventurous hackers, our Chrome extension https://docs.clay.com/how-to-use...
makes it possible for anyone to “map” a webpage so that eventually, when every page on the internet is mapped, no one will have to waste time scraping data again! We have a big vision and a lot of work ahead of us, let us know if you’re interested in helping us get there **⚡**

This is wild. Spent many late nights working up all kinds of spreadsheets, and even worse, updating them! This is the next level of no-code. Will show this to my team tomorrow.
@khaledali Thanks Khaled. Me too, I used to have to juggle numerous different of scripts to feed different APIs into my spreadsheets - reach out to me if you have any ideas for Clay integrations that would be useful for you - Dapper Labs is awesome!
@khaledali Truly! What was the team's reaction today?

@varun_anand they were impressed for sure - y'all got kudos from big players on different teams (quick note: my comments here represent my personal opinions and do not represent dapper in any way)
I've been using Clay since the beta and have been incredibly impressed with the team and product. Clay redefined the way I thought data worked. I've used the product to bring data sources together that I never thought possible. And to be honest, I know I'm just scratching the surface with what Clay can do. I'd encourage everyone on here to try it out, as there are lots of different use cases across sales, marketing and recruiting. Excited to see what the Clay team builds next!
I hate spreadSHITS, but this product has honestly made data SO playful for us. I run a small company and we have been using Clay for over a year now to build out data sets for our outreach needs. As a non-coder, I absolutely love the minimalist and highly functional design. Curious to see what other tools/integrations come out of Clay in the near future (Shopify?). Congrats and high fives to the team!

@puneet_sabharwal spreadshits! 😂 I lived in those excel shits for so long, they’re like cheap itchy sheets that were left behind in a dorm room and bought for $12 at target in 2002.
Clay seems like the next gen sheets as they should be: high thread count, Egyptian, buttery, silky sheets that are a joy to slide into…

@maiale Hey Matt, this looks awesome and as someone who spends way too much time doing desktop research for clients and new business pitches, my wheels are turning. Do you have anyone using Clay for market research or competitive analysis? Or more specifically, could Clay potentially replace a social listening tool like Brandwatch? TIA!
@laura_ciocia1 hey Laura, we can definitely do that and people have been using it for market research and analysis. You can scrape other websites and see if the team has been growing or if they have published new blog posts or many other things. Send me a note -- kareem at clay.run and we can chat about use cases that you're thinking of
I love how intuitive Clay is and how it connects data sources together unlike any other product I've seen. It's also cool that the data updates live and I can create automations with my CRM.

@varun_anand this is going to save me so much time - I’m excited to see how it evolves!
@hannahjoansmith@varun_anand Journalism use case sounds really cool Hannah & Varun! We should definitely explore 💫

I wasn't completely sure what to expect with this product, but I've very recently tried using Clay to bring together data sets that would otherwise have taken me hours of copying and pasting to get it all into a spreadsheet and it was GREAT. I've always wanted to be able to scrape web data but I've never had the time to really look into it myself so just being able to do it so simply is a massive help for me. Even on my relatively simple project it saved me hours so I'll definitely be using this again in the future and probably finding reasons to have to use it.
This looks super cool, excited to play around with it! Particularly hyped about the Chrome Extension to crowdsource web scraping so we can “map the internet” - sounds like it can be super useful!
One question about that: how would y’all make sure that the scrapers stay up to date as websites change?
@hirday_gupta Great question! You can edit the mappings to keep it up-to-date, and since you update for yourself you are also helping out the community at the same time. We'll eventually figure out a way to reward people for doing this first!
@hirday_gupta Hey Hirday! Definitely, I use the extension's scraping a lot myself as well!
As for keeping the scrapers updated, we can't 100% prevent the scrapers breaking with website changes. The selecting and scraping logic is built to be as flexible as possible, but websites sometimes change enough to break those as well.
IMO the beauty with the extension is that it's insanely easy to reconfigure the scrapers so that whenever someone sees something that's broken they can update it themselves in a few seconds!

Such a powerful, time-saving tool 🤯Speaking as a non-programmer this is very exciting!!
