I'll never get to ask my grandparents their stories
Here's something I will never be able to do: Ask my grandparents detailed questions about their lives. Why? Because they passed away a long time ago.
What was it like growing up for them in the 1930s and 1940s in India? What were the moments that shaped them? The funny stories? The hard times they overcame? Raising my parents and advice they want to pass on?
I was young when they passed but I know many people who would have loved to ask these questions, but life moves fast and sometimes we are too late and these stories may be lost forever.
Some family members do this really well, interviewing older generations, capturing those stories on video or audio. Are you in a similar situation? Is there someone in your family whose story you want to capture before it's too late? Or maybe you are that person, and you wish your kids/grandkids would ask because you want to capture your life/legacy for them?
We have been building Capsule partly because of this exact thing. But I want to understand how others think about preserving family stories and wisdom.
