Hey Product Hunt!
I’m excited to share CalcFocus, an open-source screen recorder, screenshot tool, and editor for people who make product demos, tutorials, walkthroughs, and launch videos.
I built CalcFocus because recording a screen is easy, but making the result look polished usually takes too much extra editing. The goal is to make that workflow feel much lighter: record your screen, let CalcFocus suggest zooms based on cursor movement, refine the details, style the frame, and export a clean MP4 or GIF.
What CalcFocus can do today:
- Record a screen, window, or selected area
- Auto-suggest zooms from cursor activity
- Smooth cursor movement and add click animations
- Trim, add speed regions, annotations, and zoom spans
- Style videos with backgrounds, padding, rounded corners, and shadows
- Capture and edit screenshots
- Export to MP4 or GIF
- Save and reopen `.calcfocus` projects
It’s built with Tauri, Rust, React, and PixiJS, and it’s AGPL-licensed.
I’d love feedback from makers, designers, developers, and creator-tools people:
What would make this more useful for your own product demo workflow?
