BP Builder - Your 5-year business plan, built through a conversation

by•
Building a financial plan means days in a spreadsheet, or paying someone to do it. BP Builder does it through a conversation. An assistant interviews you about your business, adapting to your model and sector. A calculation engine turns that into a full 5-year plan: P&L, cash flow, balance sheet, debt schedule, break-even. Benchmarks across 30 industries fill the gaps. Export to Excel in one click: 10 sheets, 6 charts, live formulas your accountant can audit.

Hi Product Hunt 👋

I'm Tom, and I've spent the last months building BP Builder at Okimia.

The trigger: watching founders and finance teams rebuild the same financial model from scratch, every time. Days lost in a spreadsheet, formulas that break, and a plan nobody trusts by month six.

So we split the problem in two. An assistant interviews you about your business, the way an advisor would, adapting its questions to your model and your sector. A separate calculation engine turns your answers into real accounting: P&L, cash flow, balance sheet, debt schedule, break-even, over 5 years. No black box: every number traces back to an assumption you validated, and the whole plan exports to Excel with live formulas, so your accountant or your bank can audit it properly.

We also built benchmarks across 30 industries, because the hardest part of a first plan is the numbers you simply don't have yet.

It's free to start, with a 1-year dashboard.

I'd love your feedback on two things: the questions the assistant asks (is anything missing?) and the assumptions behind the benchmarks. And if you've ever abandoned a business plan halfway through, I want to hear why 🙏

Hey Product Hunt 👋

I'm François, co-founder & CEO at Okimia. Tom built BP Builder, I'm the one who kept asking for it.

We've spent the last 3 years helping hundreds of French SMEs manage their cash at Okimia (bank aggregation, forecasting, payments). One pattern kept coming up: before they could forecast anything, they needed a solid financial plan. And most of them were stuck with a broken Excel file someone built two years ago.

The existing tools either oversimplify (you get a nice chart but your bank won't take it seriously) or overwhelm (80-tab spreadsheets that only the person who built them can understand). We wanted something in between: rigorous enough for your accountant, simple enough for a founder who's not a finance person.

A few things we're particularly proud of:
→ The Excel export with live formulas: no black box, anyone can audit every line
→ Industry benchmarks across 30 sectors. Because "what's a normal margin for my business?" is the question everyone asks and nobody can answer easily
→ The conversational approach. It feels like talking to an advisor, not filling out a form

It's free to start. We'd love your feedback, especially if you've tried building a business plan before and gave up halfway through. That's exactly the problem we're trying to solve 🙏
