Funny, my wife had a tachycardic scare on Saturday and while it was happening (200 beats/minute) I put my Apple Watch on her wrist, took an ECG with it and then sent a copy of the result to her on Facebook Messenger to keep. Long story short, when an ambulance came, her heart returned to normal speed (after an hour) and their ECG did not capture the event. Today she went to the GP to discuss it and what to do about it, and she showed the ECG that was taken by my watch and the GP said that she didn't even know it could do it and was blown away by how detailed and effective it was. She then emailed it to a cardiologist to check it to see if he had seen an Apple Watch ECG before (he had not) and he also spotted a very tiny defect in the heart rhythm from it that would normally have gone unnoticed. She was asked to attend hospital and had a hospital ECG and they detected the tiny dip in the heart analysis too and now she is on medication for it while they investigate further in the near future with ultrasound scans. The point to this is that my GP did not realise Apple Watches do ECG's and was blown away how accurate it was (and is intending to buy one herself), and from it, an expert heart consultant noticed a problem with the heart. If I had not decided to stick my watch on her arm and make her do the ECG at the time, she would have received no help at all (the paramedics didn't notice anything) and would have not been put on medicine. So all praise to Apple for creating a medical device that I think should be open-sourced and available to all wearable companies as anything that can detect medical issues and relay that information fairly accurately to a medical professional, will definitely help any healthcare system.

I love my apple watch, but I disabled all the nagging abilities it has (standing, activity coaching). Now, watch OS7 adds the ability to police your handwashing (using the mic for running water as an indicator). It seems Apple has built more nagging into the roadmap, relying on flimsy indicators. Not a fan of this direction.

@inorganik agree. The future needs less notifications not more. When (if ever) will these big tech companies start taking proper responsibility over that.
