PRODUCT HIGHLIGHT
5 products to help mom preserve her memories

The market for collecting your family's memories has been growing. Over the last few years at Product Hunt, I’ve seen a ton of options for collecting memories launch. Today seems like a good day to do a roundup of some of them with Mother’s Day just around the corner for Americans.

Otto just launched today. It's an app with a simple voice interface that collects your memories and milestones. Otto makes transcripts and uses AI to create a biography — for you, your mom, or even your startup.

Leaf also has a simple interface to help you capture memories as life happens; for example, asking your toddler what her favorite toys are right now. Getting the app started with a few entries from your little one could be a great idea for a new mom.

Storii is a similar concept, but uses actual phone calls to collect memories. You can set it up for your loved one to get calls or have them call in. No internet or smartphone required (i.e. your older or less tech-savvy parents or grandparents can use it.)

Chaptr, an app for collecting memories once someone has passed, has been around for a few years. The startup raised a seed round at the end of last year. If you are remembering mom, or your mom is remembering mom this year, check it out.

Story Corps is a nonprofit and project founded by a radio producer that works to preserve the stories of Americans from different backgrounds and beliefs. Two loved ones record their story with help from a facilitator. At the end of the session you get a recording of your interview and a copy is sent to the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. Segments may even air on NPR.

There you have it. And for goodness sake, if you're cool with your mom, just be nice to her. 😆
