THE VERY BEST BITS OF SOCIAL

    ngl. BeReal. gas.

New consumer social apps are growing — fast. Other than being glued to the news about these apps though, this writer has yet to become a DAU of any. Not being in Gen Z likely has something to do with it.

Now a new social networking tool called Clay has launched with an intriguing proposal for others in the same boat — the ones who can’t shake LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and email as their primary mode of staying connected, but are tired of doom scrolling and scattered relationships.

Clay integrates all of those accounts into one platform (you could call it a personal CRM). Search helps you look across your connections to find, let's say, a realtor you know in New York City. AI prompts and reminders can help you reconnect with friends, and notes are handy when you’ve forgotten what their kid’s name is. You can link people together and get pre-meeting briefs, too.

Clay was founded by Zachary Hamed and Matthew Achariam. Hamed formerly led the product management team for Goldman Sachs' web platform, Marquee, and Achariam Achariam used to lead product at the analytics company, Custora.

The community has been showing the product a lot of love. Early adopters are chiming in to say that they’re enjoying Clay to manage their blurred business lives (Clay also recently won a Webby Award for the Best Work & Productivity App). Others are asking questions about privacy and how notifications and the AI-powered features works.

“Congrats on launching a product for forgetful people…”

“Finally an Intern for my Whatsapp and co!”

“Now this looks like something I need in my life. Too much time flicking between different social networks is certainly an issue... I just want the very best bits!”
