As for the the most upvoted product of the year, it's a close race between Robinhood's cryptocurrency trading platform, Google's slightly creepy AI that can schedule restaurant reservations, and a magical organization tool from a small startup here in San Francisco. π
Instead of attempting to compete with Slack, an estimated $5B behemoth in the office communication space, parent company Atlassian agreed to:
- discontinue HipChat and Stride, their inter-company messaging tools, and sell all related intellectual property to Slack.
- help all HipChat users transition over to Slack.
- invest a "small but symbolically important" in Slack.
Even if you've never tried Slack (or spend all day in it), we've compiled a list of the community's favorite Slack Bots, or apps that live inside Slack, just for you:
π¨ Make your Slack pretty with custom, with Slack Themes
π Crush your inbox directly inside Slack, with Astrobot for Slack
π Turn your teammates into Slack stickers, with My Slack Emoji
π Search for the best custom Slack emoji, with Slackmoji
πͺ Get in shape with this robot personal trainer, with Slackbot Workout

Grow your app with Setapp: revenue, users, & AI

You shipped the app. Now comes the part nobody warns you about.
Billing across dozens of countries. Licensing agreements. Tax compliance. Customer support for users you haven't met yet. And if your app does anything with AI, add provider management and infrastructure costs to the pile. None of that is why you started building β but all of it is now your problem.
Setapp is trying to take it off your plate.
You probably know Setapp as the subscription marketplace β one monthly price, hundreds of Mac apps. On May 21st, they turned toward developers. The pitch is simple: list your app, reach users who are already looking, and let Setapp handle the business layer.
