How do you manage pre-revenue startup costs?

How are you covering the monthly costs of building your B2C or B2B startup? The virtual office, phone service, domain hosting, Supabase or Firebase, and other recurring expenses add up. How do you fund these odds and ends, and what cost-saving hacks help you get the most bang for your proverbial buck before revenue starts coming in?

I have two startups, so the overhead can be overwhelming. Still, I decided long ago that it was in my best financial interest to focus primarily on my startup needs and find free workarounds for my wants. For example, Canva is a low-cost design service, but I opted for a free Affinity account for most of my immediate needs. It requires more manual labor and a bit of design skill, but I m saving $15-$20/month. It s minimal, but I would rather spend that $20/month on Resend for my email needs than on design extras.
How are you managing?

The Cash Flow Risk Simulator (CFRS)

I've made this tool called the Cash Flow risk simulator, from the very obvious name you can tell what it does, it basically takes simple financial records whether tangible or intangible, and quantifies the probability of failure. As a business owner the thought of your business failing is always something that looms overhead of founders alike. With my tool you can better understand the risk of failure, how much runway you have, and how to optimize for the lowest chance of failure. The product is still in beta and feedback on my software would be much appreciated. The link for the product will be in my profile if anybody would like to test the early stages of a much bigger vision.

What “low-cost” stack would you recommend for a first-time founder launching a product to save money

AI is a great, cheap foundation we can all agree on that (depending on token usage, of course).

When you re building your first product, and you re not sure if it will work and earn money, the obvious goal is to keep costs as low as possible and avoid burning money early on.

What marketing tools are people actually using?

From what I am seeing across communities, here is what the tool stack looks like right now.

The Core Stack

Email & Capture: Mailchimp for launch updates and email sequences . Carrd for quick, clean launch-specific landing pages . Pre-launch tools like LaunchBuddy and Prefundia to build a waitlist and gather early feedback before you even hit the Product Hunt button .

Social & Scheduling: Buffer or Hootsuite to keep a consistent presence across X, LinkedIn, and Threads without it taking over your entire day . Canva for generating graphics that do not look like you threw them together in five minutes .

What's after Product Hunt for self-funded startups?

Vokal got #2 product of the day and #7 of the week, and we now have 100+ signups from startups and teams. In general, people seem excited to try it out to up-level their teams to agent native.

Now I m trying to figure out the next step: how do we scale this beyond manual founder-led work?

I ve been writing posts, sharing content, and doing outreach manually, but it s starting to feel like a constant drain and a bottleneck. I ve been looking into tools like HubSpot, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Apollo, and Clay.

For people who have used any of these: what has your experience been? Which ones are actually worth it at an early stage?

⚡ 5 New Problems to Build a Startup | ProblemHunt
  1. A 3-year search for a simple tool to track both personal and business finances in one place. Nothing fits.

  2. Website owners constantly need minor edits in the admin panel. They are forced to pay specialists for 5-minute tasks. We need an AI agent that does this on command in the browser.

  3. An indie hacker spends 20-30 hours manually cold launching each new product in directories, Reddit, and blogs. There is no tool that fully automates this and proves its effectiveness.

  4. A freelancer often loses in proposal competitions due to the inability to quickly create personalized and visual website concepts for each job order.

  5. A Telegram channel owner is losing their audience without understanding the reasons for unsubscriptions. There is no simple tool for automatically collecting feedback from departed subscribers.

What are some excellent Low-Code/No-Code platforms & tools suitable for startups?
The business of a startup company will change frequently, but the number of developers is often small, and it is difficult to cope with heavy business requirements. Can anyone recommend some good low-code & no-code tools? And what scenarios do they apply to? Provide some practical examples: 1. appsmith(https://www.appsmith.com/). Open-Source, and provides good customization capabilities and interface display. 2. Retool(https://retool.com/). Similar to appsmith. 3.Dots(https://www.dots.community/). Build bots on Discord & Slack. 4. Webflow(https://webflow.com/). All-in-one web design platform. 5. ...

⚡ 10 New Problems to Build a Startup

1. Startup founders get lost in legal, accounting, and administrative tasks after incorporation, leading to stress and risks due to the lack of a clear, step-by-step plan.

2. The owner of a relaunched bar on the French coast cannot attract an audience in the evening due to the legacy of its past format (nightclub) and its isolated location.

Do you care about the money?
When you are just rolling out your new big thing, do you really care about how much money you burn? Do you track your expenses and do you generally plan ahead? Do you set aside some ramen money or just let it roll? Especially if you are bootstrapped? How do you link your revenue and expense? How do you track your userbase behavior?
