Typefully

What's great

free tier (2)user-friendly interface (8)twitter thread scheduling (2)continued improvement (1)

Been using Typefully for ~2 years now. One of the easiest tools for marketers to get started (even non-growth marketers or social media managers). They continued to make improvements on the UIUX, and recent features in 2.0 have been impressive. It's especially helpful for X content scheduling.

What needs improvement

collaboration issues (3)attachment size limitations (2)more tailored for x than anything else (1)

Collaboration features are a great addition, but face issues on occasion. Another downside is the lack of support/feature for other, less text-heavy platforms, as it's more optimized for X.

vs Alternatives

Easy to use. Industry standard for social content.

Is there a useful free tier and its limitations?

Yes, one of the better free tiers out there. 15 posts / month - enough for most early-stage teams and creators.

Intuit Mailchimp

What's great

user-friendly (6)drag-and-drop editor (2)email automation (7)ready-to-use templates (3)

Very user-friendly. For newer teams getting started with a newsletter or email service, Mailchimp is a powerful, ready-to-use option.

What needs improvement

customer support (2)pricing (6)lack of innovation (1)usage limits (1)deliverability (1)

It's on the pricer side for the standard service offerings they offer, with very low usage limits compared to alternatives like Mailerlite and Beehiiv. Not sure if it is related to the acquisition, but in the last few years, I saw a lot less innovation with product features, and customer support speed is also slower. The free tier is quite unusable for most. Many teams I know have switched away from MailChimp.

vs Alternatives

Easy to get the team started. We built our own email service later with a private sequencer to enhance deliverability.

What limits did you hit on the free plan?

Usually around 500 for the free plan.
