I mean I don't even want to share it just in case it disappears because this is the best kept secret in the industry! Everything you heard is true and more!

What needs improvement

The TUI could be improve and be more modern looking shell like Pi. Better scrolling feature to navigate to previous messages.

vs Alternatives

It's simple, useful and the workflow is perfect for long coding session without having a million tools to learn. You get great model and great ads, win win situation compared to spending 200$+ a month and busting your tokens on building a simple website.

I'm an academic who also codes, so my daily usage is messier than a pure developer's: prototyping code, rearranging project files, revising parts of an academic paper, and occasionally asking it to diagnose something weird on my laptop. Freebuff handles that mixed workflow well. I've used the web app, the CLI, and the desktop app, and for real work I'd rank them desktop first, CLI second, web last. The desktop app working directly with my file system is a big deal for me. Even with my country sitting in the restricted access mode, it has quietly replaced several paid AI subscriptions I used to maintain.

What needs improvement

A mobile companion app that can monitor or continue a desktop session remotely. Some newer coding agents already do this, and for now I get by with a remote desktop workaround, which is functional but clunky. More coding sessions for restricted regions would also help. On larger tasks I'd like an explicit implementation plan to approve before the agent starts writing code.

Mostly consolidation. I was juggling several AI subscriptions, and Freebuff lets me use one setup for coding, document generation, academic drafts, and random technical troubleshooting. It doesn't magically beat every paid tool at everything, but having the same workspace for all of my work is worth more than constantly rebuilding my workflow around the latest tool. DeepSeek V4 Flash has been my daily driver there recently, and I picked up GLM 5.2 through their bounty system.

Freebuff AI has basically become my silent co‑dev. I use it because it does the one thing every game dev desperately needs: it kills the boring parts. Instead of me drowning in boilerplate code, debugging hell, or rewriting the same systems for the hundredth time, Freebuff just handles it. Fast. Clean. No drama. but the real kicker is the free daily credits and the extra rewards it throws at you for actually showing up and building stuff.

What needs improvement

more free credits for real because sometimes i go on prototype binge lol

I use Freebuff AI because it makes game development faster, cheaper, and way less painful and it rewards me for doing what I already love: making games.

The new gold standard, this has it all, the best models, the best tools. and all the important MCP/integrations it can't be beat for free.

Its simply better, every other free option will cut you off mid session because you ran out of their free allowance.. which is purposely low to force you into a subscription.. freebuff solves this

As opposed to the competing services that offer only enough credits for new users to be interrupted halfway through creating an actual project, which doesn't really give them the opportunity to actually use the tool, Freebuff allows its users to do just what the competitors offer, for absolutely free. Ads are, considering the state of the market, an infinitesimally small price to pay for the value it provides.

That is why I give this a 5 stars. Because in this economy's state of overwhelming consumers with memberships eating into their bank accounts monthly, Freebuff is a breath of fresh air - a return to the old business model of internet services in the 2000's. An opportunity for many out there who can't afford to enter their credit card details on every other website they wish to sign up for.
