We designed Dif for coding agents before we built it with one. Flags live in the repo because that's where the agent works: it reads context.json at session start, and dif init writes an AGENTS.md block so it keeps handling flags right. The way software gets built has changed, and distribution and experimentation are moving into the repo with it. Claude Code is our tool and our first audience.
